I spend a lot of time indoors, in front of the tv. I am a bit of a soap addict, with Eastenders being my favourite. But I am always looking for new things to watch, so thought I would start a thread to see what you have been watching, any good recommendations that might interest anyone.

  • Hi Chelle are you still watching Everwood, we are on the 3rd season and loving it?  Wonder what we can watch afterwards?

  • Hi

I finished it last week! It was wonderful, I won’t spoil it for you, but it was a lovely ending, but I didn’t want that to be the end!

I am now looking for a new series. We watched the lady on itv, about Jane Andrews, that was good but only 4 episodes.

  • Hi Chelle,  I love a happy ending.  Has my name changed to Lee2024?  I thought I was leelaloo on here.  Weird.

  • Thank you for pointing that out! Don’t know what happened there but I have corrected it now. When you tag people it brings up a list but peoples names which have numbers after them, and I must of picked the wrong name! Apologies for that. X

  • We have been to the cinema twice in the last couple of weeks, both very different films, but both with one thing in common, Martin Clunes.

The first film was Wuthering heights. I have loved the story of Wuthering heights since a teenager when Kate Bush was in the charts. Marin Clunes plays the part of Kathy’s drunken, abusive father.

The 2nd film we saw yesterday, was Mothers pride. A comedy based around a very small village, where Martin Clunes played a pub landlord of a failing pub. This film is hilarious from start to finish we laughed out loud.

Now this has got me thinking. I like Martin Clunes very much, I think he is an outstanding actor, so why have I never watched Doc Martin. I looked yesterday there are about 10 seasons where I can watch this on iplayer. Has anyone seen doc Martin ? Is it worth a watch?

  • Doc Martin is light hearted and sun always shines there! I always enjoyed watching it.
I can also highly recommend Man hunt on ITVX with him as the main lead. It is a really great detective series based on real cases. One of the best detective series I have ever watched.

  • Brilliant, thank you Stella, that does sound like something I would watch. I have seen man hunt where he played Colin Sutton. I have followed Colin Suttons detective career, and Martin Clunes played him very well.

  • The last ever call the midwife last night. Such a sad ending to such a wonderful programme, that myself, my sister and my eldest daughter have enjoyed since the start. I think the loss of the Christmas special will be felt this year, as that has been a family tradition in our house for years. Let’s hope the pre sequel that is coming out later this year lives up to its expectations, but it has big shoes to fill!

  • I am really enjoying Doc Martin so far. I love his grumpy attitude, but you can see his caring side slowly starting to appear.

We have also been watching Gone on itvx where all episodes are available. This is a crime thriller where a head masters wife has gone missing, and he is the main suspect for her murder. We are about half way through and really enjoying it. Main cast are Eve Miles and David Morrisey.

  • I have never watched Doc Martin.  We started watching The Abandons last night.  It is a western where the two main families are headed up by woman.  One is Gillian Anderson from X Files and the other is Lena Headey from Game of Thrones.  I am on fence at moment but could be only just started watching.
