  • Hi Sledge  I know it sounds funny but I really am doing a paint by numbers.  I have zero artistic ability so this is the next best thing Grin  Unlike Eddie and everyone else who are so talented.

  • Hi Eddie, yes there is rain coming and it'll be great to have it. I have so many carrot and parsnip seeds that haven't germinated because there has been no rainfall for at least 4 weeks. The ground is so hard here. I think you'll have rainfall pretty soon, fingers crossed.

    Take care Eddie

  • Hi Lee

I love it. I'll be like you. I love peonies and want to paint by numbers one. I haven't yet found one I like, but I've also got a complex cross stitch one that I haven't started.

My priority is the shawl for my son. That could take a few months yet! Rofl

  • Awww Lee2, stop knocking yourself, you have bags of talent, your rabbit is wonderful, my pictures are so simple to do, if you would like I'll send a step-by-step picture guide as to how I paint one, you'll not be so impressed then lol.

  • Hi my friend, I'm not holding my breath, though a couple of millimeters on Saturday is better than nothing, I  don't grow parsnip or carrots, I  used too, and sometimes sow carrots in a bin in late July, along with kestrel potatoes " for baking," for winter.

You've probably heard this, but the  best/most reliable  parsnip seeds to use come from 2 year old plants that are cut to the ground after 12 months then are allowed to go to seed again, then used.

  • Hi Eddie, tvman

I'm jealous I never succeeded in growing anything to eat. Grin, but it's always good to share.

  • Hi Sledge, if you want any advice my friend, get on the gardening thread, there are lots of easy to grow, lovely veg that taste so much better than anything you can buy, what do you like?.

    Love Eddie and Sheila xx

  • Hi Eddie

I like nearly all veg, except peas. Would have to avoid mushrooms and bell peppers as they don't suit my other half. I've tried cucumber, tomato and strawberries in my past but the indigenous population enjoyed them more than we got opportunity to eat Rofl i.e bugs, birds, etc.

We have talked about it but I'll probably delay this season as I'm focused on additional flowers to plant, weeding this weekend.

  • Hi Sledge, there's plenty of time to grow some veg,  get yourself some 15 litre pots and a bag of compost" clover" if you can find it,  a packet of salad, chard, spinach, chives  and cabbage and sprinkle about 30- 40 seeds in each pot, keep them off the ground and well watered and start harvesting when they're 4 inch tall, fab.
