Got stage 4 advanced metastatic prostate cancer gleason 9 psa412 at diagnosis in September 2021

Had chemo and radiotherapy and on prostap 3, now my psa since treatment been 0.01 for the last 2 years been on 4 monthly blood test and 12 werk injection.

Now they want me to go 6 monthly blood and only on active surveillance. On all my telephone conversation till my last one recently they said I can only go 4 monthly blood but seem to have changed there might just wondering if anyone else with the same advanced metastatic prostate cancer are on active surveillance after treatment

  • Hi Masrat, welcome as I don’t think we have chatted before. I don’t have the same cancer as you but I was put on; a targeted therapy drug to slow the cancer down, as I am also incurable, like everyone in this Group. After being on treatment for over 3 years, I stopped  it in Oct 16 and moved on to active surveillance. Scans bloods etc every 3 months, then every 6 months and now annually. No one  expected me still to be here, so if I can defy the odds, you can too. It is a bit scary at first when you are used to seeing your oncologist every month but once you get your mind round it, it feels great not to have appointment after appointment and have longer periods in between! There are lots of others in this position. We say we are Stable Mable’s no matter whether male or female. So welcome to that club!!

  • Thank you for your reply helped me to understand it all a bit more

  • Hi Masrat, and welcome back, I have T4 MPCa as well, and reading your profile, my thoughts are WOW, to be on AS, 2 years on from your TNM staging with a stable PSA of 0.01, which means undetectable, is great news, and them deciding to do 6 monthly, instead of 4 monthly bloods, is I believe normal practice for AS patients who are stable, I'm not sure, but I think there are a couple of guys on the prostate cancer forum who are/were T4, Gleason 9 on AS. There are only a handful of guys on here with PCa, unlike the Prostate forum which has 1000s, maybe you could ask on there.
