Hi Kate, I hope you enjoy your workshop, it sounds interesting! Funny thing is this year we have little or no midges in the garden, I have been outside after 8pm and still none. Someone was also saying about wasps and we have had hardly any of them either although a lot of bees, which I don't mind! Possibly the weather has been too cold for them this year! We also have a weather warning in place for Monday/Tuesday for thunderstorms lovely.....not!!

Hi Annette
My part of Scotland is surprisingly midge-free.....but I have always had trouble with them, no matter where I've been living. They seem to be attracted to me, when no-one else is being bitten. And I react badly too....huge swellings that last for days! Hard to believe, but I was a professional gardener until I retired!
I've been wondering if wearing a beekeeper's suit would protect me from them....I might try and get one second hand to try out.
I've had hardly any bees this year, and have only just noticed any wasps. It might be the cold, or viruses affecting them.
Yes, the weather forecast isn't too good here either! Think Autumn has arrived.

Good Morning Kate, Why are you awake at stupid o’clock? I amused to it! At one time I too was a target for midges. I always had to wear long sleeve's but even then they got to me. At one stage I started getting a lot of infections as my immune system didn’t work and my oncologist prescribed a low dose antibiotic for over a year to try to boost it. After that I was given a small dose antihistamine to be taken daily and lo and behold, the midges left me alone! I now wear short sleeves in the garden but spray on Skin So Soft by Avon and they don’t seem to like that either! It may be worth a try for you. Funny thing is I’m allergic to most of Avons products but not that! Hope you get some sleep!

Morning Alana, sorry i missed your post, no excuse, Sheila cancelled our tours last Friday, it was the right thing to do, My auntie in Fort William is a big fan of country music and Nathan Carter, so you might see her at The Eden Court Theatre, just look for a 80yo lady who never stops dancing, it's going to be fab, i'm sure you will have a great time and it will be a big emotional pick me up, Will L be going too?,

Hello Anndanv
I'm often awake at stupid o'clock too! Have had insomnia for a few years, so sometimes I get up and potter about for an hour before going back to bed. It's fine, I'm not bothered by it.
I've used Skin so Soft too...it does work to a certain extent. Today I was told you can buy midge suits which protect the whole body, so I'll research this. If they aren't too expensive, I'll try one!
