Hi Everyone,
This has been the longest time since I joined, I haven't been able to post!
About 5 or 6 weeks ago, I fell. My feet went numb and were literally stuck to the floor, I went forward head first. My forehead hit the floor first, then my right knee. Luckily my husband was downstairs and heard the thud! The next day I felt as if I had been knocked down by a train, everything hurt, especially my head. I was in bed a lot for the next few days. On the 4th day. I had bruising from my forehead down to my cheeks that was purple & black. Bruising from my knee to my foot, plus other bruises where I hadn't realised must have also hit the floor! Things were not improving by the following week, so I called my GP. He told me to go to the Minor Injuries Clinic where they can do X-rays after I said I didn't want to go to A&E! Result was Severe Concussion, whiplash and I had a hairline fracture just below my right kneecap which has caused my Osteoarthritis to flare up.
It has taken me this long to be able to go on my iPad for any length of time, without my head and eyes being unbearably painful. I was at the Optician earlier today and he has given me drops for a week. He said head injuries often affect the eyes! I am pleased to say things are improving now slowly.
I have to admit, I have been on my iPad for short spells, emailing some special friends, keeping them up to date but honestly couldn't have read all the posts here to keep up! To anyone new who has joined, a warm welcome from me, I hope we get to chat soon. To everyone else, please post here to let me know what has been happening with you regarding treatment and just how you are feeling! I hope you are all doing well! Last week my husband and I had a break in Ayr, just over an hour from home. I love the seaside and it always makes me feel better. We went over my birthday as our grandchildren had already gone back to school. We all had cake & drinks together once we got home! Take care all! Love anndanv (Annette x)
Hi Annette, and a warm welcome back to the forum, it is wonderful to see you posting again and I'm sure I am speaking for all your friends on here when I say you were missed.
I'm still on HT "failing", have my heart MOT tomorrow, hopefully 150 exercise sessions has strengthened my heart enough for chemotherapy to bean option and have my next MDT meeting in about 3 weeks to see where we go with treatment, slight complication I have had an epigastric hernia for over a year which has started to expand so needs treating while it still can be, or risk bowel blockage or strangulation, far too close to heart for general anaesthetic so will need plan B whatever that may be
love Eddie xx
Hi Annette
Yippee! You're back! As Eddie says, we've missed you posting on here. And you've clocked up another year!!!
Hope you continue to get better and better.
I'm feeling fine at the moment. Doing a lot of gardening in between rain showers. Nothing particularly exciting!
best wishes
Kate
Hi Everyone, Thank you so much for all your messages, I am quite overwhelmed! Eddie, I'm sure all those exercises must have made a difference. I hope the MOT goes well. Mmum, everyone said I should have gone straight to A&E when it happened but I genuinely thought it would just sort itself out. Also like probably most others here, I have had my fill of hospitals! Flippen(Popgate) I don't mind another battle, as long as I am still winning the war! Also nothing would have stopped me going to the seaside! Coddfish & Donna (Hamhat) yes it was a terrible shock you just never know what is going to happen but I am definitely on the mend. Kate (Candysmum) I am pleased you are fine at the minute and getting some gardening done. I have been trying in between showers too but I think the rain sees me coming! Yes another year, so now 8 yrs in October since I stopped treatment! Moi (Moi2) yes I am still a night owl, as you can see. Good luck with your PET scan on Friday, at least you don't have long to wait and worry about it! Good luck!
So has there been no new members to the Group recently?
Thanks again everyone, night owl is now signing out hoping to get some sleep!!
Love Annette x
