  • The tablets are supposed to help with my 24 hours background nausea, but from around 5pm my nausea has started to increase and the meds (50mg cyclizine) are not enough to control my nausea.

  • Right, then yes you have to ask your doctor to prescribe more,by the sound of it, you need double the dose.

    What treatment are you on

  • you will have to let your oncologist know when you speak or face to face, i have not met any one that has it as bad as you,

A few days then it subsides, yours does not seem to let up,

  • Lucy i know you do not lie ginger, and you have said, everything tastes different, if i was you i would at least try some ginger, as it works for lots of people, and if you are taking your tablets as well it could really   help, if it was me, i would be. trying at least nothing to lose.

I have to go out now, Later x

  • The issue seems to be that I have several things going on at the same time and the medical team are trying to sort them out.

When I had covid in October last year, it left me with acute sensitivity to smells and tastes, so even something very mild tastes and smells unpleasantly strong to me.

I am also being investigated for a blocked salivary gland.

Plus, the cancer is causing my blood calcium levels to keep rising, which causes nausea and other symptoms. The zoledronic acid, which I get through IV every three weeks, is to control my blood calcium levels but also adds to my nausea. High calcium levels can cause fits or damage my kidneys, so it's essential I have it

I am on ipimumab and nivolumab every three weeks, for 4 cycles too.

So it's all a bit of a juggling act at the moment. I am on the maximum dose of cyclizine. Hopefully, if the immunotherapy helps, my blood calcium levels will also stabilise at a lower level.

    Its complicated Grin

  • Apart from three days after my first cycle of immunotherapy, I think my nausea is the way it has been for about 6 months now. It took from mid November to the end of February for me to get referred to oncology due to an administrative error so my issues built up without treatment for a while.

But it's being sorted now Smiley

  • Good afternoon all

I hope you are all having a good day! I have read through thee thread but have already forgotten who’s doing what and where (due to chemo brain not lack of interest lol) so just going to say have a great day. Lucy I’m so glad they are finally going to help you with the nausea, you certainly do have a lot going on but if they can sort the nausea you will feel so much better.
    Have a great day

    love Jac x

  • You are  lucky that people want to socialise with you but there's no accounting for taste.

Now what's this emoji fest emanating from your direction.

I believe I was quite clear that the site is not for fun, it's for serious discussion.

When I am in charge, and things are looking that way, there will be some quite severe policy changes.

Basically... do as I say, not as I do....
