Here by special request, the latest in the Lovely Morning series.

  • The early hours are a terrible time for the mind ticking over.  Pre all this nonsense I slept really well and basically that involved having a regular sleep time, no tv or screens in the bedroom and making sure I did some exercise during the day.  I am still trying these things but they aren’t working so well for me at the moment but at least this means the meds are doing something if the side effects are strong.  Hope you get some rest when you can though.

  • Hi Donna, I sleep for around 6 hours these days but used to be 8. I had a terrible time when on steroids but thankfully only get the odd night where I wake and can’t get back to sleep. Really messes you up for the day ahead. I’m guilty of having the tv on in the bedroom & even set the timer for it to go off as I like background noise to get me off. Stops me from thinking of things I don’t want to think of. It goes against all the things you’re advised to do but works for me! x

  • Well just put TV on, must be Xmas as Christmas films already on some channels, lol

  • My local cancer support centre did a helpful course on sleep, though the main takeaway for me was to try not to worry to much about not sleeping!

The other thing that really helped was joining a choir: having lots of words to learn helps me because my head is filled with learning lyrics etc rather than the negative thoughts that seem to zoom in on you when you can't sleep.

I hope that you find something that helps you x

  • Hi Ellie & Everyone, Isn't it ridiculous we can't even get to Haloween now before they advertise Christmas! Then before we get to Christmas, they will be advertising The January Sales. Coming up to New Year they will be advertising Easter & summer holidays!

Why do you think they try to rush us through the year?? I for one, am just happy to take it slowly, day by day!!

Next thing we know the same old Christmas songs will be playing in the shops. "Do They Know It's Christmas Time"?  NO IT'S NOT, IT IS NOVEMBER!!!!  Anyone else think Christmas should not be advertised before 1st December? Or is it just me?

Well, I'm saying Good Morning All and it is the middle of the night! 3.53 to be precise! Lol!

    Love Annette x

I think the same as you, when i was a kid, Christmas never started till the 1st December, and people did not shop for weeks at a time Christmas  then was what i would say was more of a special feeling than now,and the reason i say this,is the fact it starts to early and goes on and on and the magical feeling goes, and ever one gets far to much.

LOL i was happy to get an Apple, Orange. a New Book, and Half a Crown.

    Have a Good Day xx

  • Funny you should make the commitments about Christmas, our B+M has several isle's dected out already, and Christmas music playin, pathetic.

  • What, I got an orange, Christmas nuts, and a wee dram, it was part of the fun breaking the nuts open and putting the shells onto the fire.

  • We always got an orange nuts, a threepenny bit and a chocolate Santa (off my aunt ) We had lots of fun, being a big family, we sang carols. Such lovely memories of child hud Christmas's.  xx

    Hi Donna,

I know how you feel with the not sleeping. When I was working it was work stuff that kept me awake, not sure what it is now but the hot flushes that have come back with a vengeance don't help. There is something on the BBC sounds app about sleep, I noticed this morning, not looked at it properly though.

I'm not a fan of Christmas much, too much palaver, bah humbug!

    A x
