I have had an issue with one of my pensions being declined. I tried contacting the scheme helpline, the pension ombudsman and my union. The first two could not take my call and my local union is only available to contact by email.
So I phoned the Macmillan helpline and they were fantastic. The person I spoke to grasped the problem straight away and was able to give me clear advice about the forms I need to complete and what to say in a covering letter. I have gone from wondering if I am entitled to anything to feeling that I have a good chance of a successful outcome.
This is the first time I have used the helpline, I was very impressed.
