A little update

Hi, After an anxious wait, my oncologist tells me that as far as he can tell, I'm still 'Stable Mabel'. Also, the shadow on my lung looks better this time than the scan before. He points out that this is his analysis - in our hospital they are acutely short of radiographers who write the scan reports and he's waiting up to 8 weeks for those. He didn't want to keep me hanging on that long. So I think that maybe I can relax and enjoy the little break we have coming up - another bit of beach to walk on that's not too far to drive to. I'd been worried about my lungs as I've been getting breathless but my surgeon says it's scar tissue from the massive surgery and the infection that followed. So breathing that proverbial sigh of relief.  I felt so relieved I immediately booked for an online painting course. I think it'll do me good going outside the old comfort zone.  Love to all of you. Rainie x

Good new - should get results of my latest 3 month scan later this week

  • Happy to say I'm in the Stable Mabel Club too! Stuck out tongue winking eye Long may it continue! x

  • Happy to hear your news Rainie, I hope that you enjoy your painting course.

  • Fingers crossed for you. All good wishes, Rainie x

  • That's great to hear. Let's hope we all keep going in Stable Mabel. X

  • Wonderful news on both fronts . Were you expecting to be stable Mabel?

The art course is right up your street and I hope that you will be posting some of your projects in no time at all. Great to find something that you like. I am definitely going to take on some willow projects this year. I have 1500 willow trees that I planted over the last 5 years to choose from. I just need the motivation.

    Love life and family.
  • Hi tvman, My previous scan had put me in the Stable Mabel club and that was totally unexpected. I had my fingers, and every other part of my anatomy, crossed that this one would continue in the same way, so very relieved that I was still clear of disease. The acid test will be if the next one remains clear, as by then I will have reached the time when it recurred previously. Oncologist is suggesting leaving a longer interval between scans - a bit nerve wracking in itself but he wants me to think about this as the risk of too many CTs also a factor - I seemed to have a couple every week when I was in hospital (over two months) so maybe he has a point.   Anybody any experience of longer intervals between scans ??   Anyways, if you are going to do something with willow, other than make a basket, then there's something on the art thread that might inspire you. Take care, Rainie x

Just to jump on the good news wagon. Today I had the results of latest scan - Stable Mable is still in the house. Next scan due November, but it's a bit of a palaver switching from company Health Insurance to NHS (will be retiring on 30th September). A bit more convoluted but not willing to pay £1,000+ to continue with private Health Insurance (that's a month, by the way)

  • Great news for you in the stable Mabel club!!!!
