Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • Thought I'd send this thread up the list as we have some newbies joined recently. If anybody fancies doing anything remotely arty please join this thread, I can send out project ideas or you can do your own thing, put it on here if you want to share. There's also a Crafty thread that somebody else started as we like to see what people are doing and making, no matter what it is , be it sewing, emboidery etc. put it on there.

But if you want to have fun making a bit of a mess and splashing colour about, then I hope to see you soon. remember that art is good for you. It can be your own therapy and it only has good side effects.

Here's something to be going on with.

Stuff from sketchbook all about peas and beans. This later turned into a design on ceramics, but if you take a simple thing and play with it, you can end up with a lot of patterns and designs that you can use on different things. As an exercise you can pick some fruit and veg and give it your own treatment. Have fun, that's the main thing.

    Feel free to comment.

  • I love art Rainie but I have no imagination. I took up copy art and then the bombshell dropped so it was put on the back burner. It was a sketch of a mountain in Wales.  I love your pattern and designs.

Here's Holkham Beach not far from me. Please post your sunny summer pix onto the Art thread and help lift the spirits. Keep the flag flying while I take a break. Thanks. Rainie x

I'm staying on a lovely campsite in Paignton and thought i'd share a couple of pictures of the lovely view i have from my van.

I know there's not much sea in them, but maybe one of you may like to give it a try.

I'd love to see the finished result as well !!

  • This was  on a boat trip from Kyle of Langash just before we went to Skye. The sea was like a mill pool and I thought it would make an interesting photo to capture the sky through its reflection
