Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • Can anybody join this group?   I usually go to an art class but had to drop put.  I'm not very good.  Apparently im  'very expressive' which I think is shorthand for messy and can't paint.

  • Of course you can Harebelle. Friend me and send me your e-mail and I'll send you some stuff. Welcome aboard. Rainie x

    Sunsets are amazing.

  • I'm not sure about this one, but artists of the time had no shortage of models and ladies of the night to pose for them. Bonnard did quite a few early poses in the bathroom [the later ones in the wonderful colourful baths were of his wife], some were vaguely  erotic nudes, but always very naturalistic poses, certainly nothing out of the ordinary for the time. Somewhat Degas like in many ways. I really like this domestic scenes.  Perhaps I'll do a Bonnard chat later.  How are you doing Ruth? Rainie x

    Yes it reflects the time.

i have been quite sad lately.

i am going to try some mindfulness and exercises like breathing and moving my feet and shoulders to help.

    Thanks for asking Rainie x

i hope you have been reassured about your finance question x

  • . Sadness is something I’ve struggled with since diagnosis, I’ve found I’ve really had to look after myself in the whole, yoga, mindfulness, exercise and also spending time away from cancer,  hence only dipping in and out of this site, although I love this thread. Art comes in many forms, from our gardens, nature, man made objects, every day objects ….  I personally am fascinated seeing old pictures of common scenes, high streets etc (similar to the girl in black stockings) everyday images a snapshot into days gone by
