I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X
It's Day 2 of my 12 Days of Arty Xmas. The next one is by Winifred Nicholson, who was the wife of Ben Nicholson. She came from an artistic family and her children also became painters. This has a lovely simplicity to it, but has such depth with lovely bold brushmarks to the fore. Makes you shiver don't you think - that icy murky light? Rainie x
I thought it was a blackbird. But you would know I guess. What's the difference? Rainie x
I think it's just an image that the artist had in his head. It's hard to tell the size. If it had red legs and was a Jackdaw size in an alpine setting then it would be an Alpine Chough.
To see a flock of Choughs in Cornwall is really quite something, glossy black plumage, red beaks and legs, almost exotic.
No red bits but the size of him adds depth to the picture. Just going to put up another one for today. Rainie x
Day 4 already of my 12 Days of Arty Christmas. Here's the next picture which is 'Landscape with Sheep' by Elizabeth Blackadder. It's a simple study and very effective. If you like nature, cats and especially flowers, have a Google through Elizabeth's beautiful work - a different type of work from what I'm usually drawn to, but wonderful in itself and I hope you like it and enjoy the other examples of her work that you can find online.
