Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

  • You're talking to a fellow Southerner you know!  Place names are always fascinating. We once found a village called Fryup. I had to stop the car and take a picture of the signpost. Now there's an idea for another post that might give us all some amusement!.  Rainie x

You remember from your old printing days Rainie, you could always return to your southern Mother Branch with  luxuries like electricity, knives and forks and washing machines instead of coppers and mangles.

You would probably need some elocution training but I expect you will get by after a while. I will sponsor you.

Tinalay taught me 'blether', I taught her absolutely nothing of any use!

Quite obviously Norfolk is not in the south.

It might be south of the North Pole but it is not in the south of England.

    Chellisimo and Ellie are southerners!

Only banter, SiT would have have contributed a lot of controversy to this thread.  I have left loads of voicemail and emails in the last week no reply, he is teasing  me again I hope.

  • Whilst it may be perfectly true that I shed my Norf London accent long ago for what now is a cross between  BBC &  jolly hockey sticks grammar school, I still think I qualify as a Southerner as that's where I was born - and apparently within the sound of Bow Bells!   After 28 years of Sheffield I still stick to 'barth' and parth' in spite of my other half who does pronounce it as spelt. On the other hand, I do know there's a 'T ' in water, so you can't have it all ways.

They tried to get us to have whippets and cloth caps but we failed to take up the offer. Mind you, do enjoy a nice Yorkshire Pudding, though feel Bakewell Tarts very over-rated myself. And I do love a good mangle. I've even used them for printmaking!   Rainie x

  • You do know your geography - which is very impressive. Well done.  Rainie x

  • Hi Ruth , I never tire of the views from my house. Fields, meadows, trees sheep, cattle, a small lake and the Mourne Mountains. If I'm up in my vegetable plot which is the highest part I sometimes stop and take it all in. When I look at my garden I see beauty, not work, even though there is anything lot of things to do but it's enjoyable.

    Take care and stay safe

    Love life and family.
  • We are in Totley, so closer to Gillfield woods than Ecclesall, close to Totley Moss and Blacka Moor for local hill walks. Whereabouts are you now Rainie?

    Sarah

  • I know Totley. We're now

in North Norfolk near Cromer in a coastal village. Fossil country [no smart comments Norberry!]

A big change but we love it. All those big skies. Rainie x
