Art for art's sake

I was wondering if anyone feels they might benefit from being part of an art group specifically for those here. I'm an artist, though I have to admit to you that I've produced absolutely nothing for ages due to being ill and in hospital, not having anywhere to exhibit for aeons and generally being extremely knackered out most of the time. But then I started thinking maybe I could do something positive about it. I've worked within what's called the 'Arts in Health' sphere and done a lot with things like colour therapy. I'd also like to say that you don't have to be rich to make art. I've done a whole exhibition made from recycled materials. It's all about taking yourself to another place for a while and having a bit of messy fun. No judgemental rubbish or anything like that. And if you don't think you're able to draw anything that looks remotely like what it's supposed to look like, well, that doesn't matter either. I think that maybe for starters you might like to message me if you are interested and then I'll try and work out a little programme. Just for us. Let me know what you think. Rainy X

A bit of Ruby to look forwards to. Lovely.

  • Hey Norberry, You have created a wonderful garden. This makes you a creator and means you are creative - you've just used plants instead of paints. I don't have such a massive garden as this, but it's big enough. I too get quite breathless walking round it. It's sad when you come to realise that you can no longer manage to tend what you've put so much into over the years. I'm coming to this realisation - even with some gardening help once a fortnight, it's still too much. But the thought of moving just makes me want to hide under a rock or something.  I hope you are soon settled into your new home and you can turn the page and create a new, but different, little haven of peace and tranquility.  Rainie x

I am a creator and I am creative, look down on me Mum and be proud!

2 O levels, a certificate for playing the violin, and now second only to Monty Don in the horticulture stakes.

You are dealing with a different fish now moderators, a highly qualified fish, think twice before taking liberties with my free speech on here in the future!

Thanks Rainie for seeing what all my mortar boarded tutors didnt!

I have my zoladex implant Tuesday, I think I need it urgently, my testosterone is rising, I feel so manly!

  • I can see you're back on form, but I still can't get you to pick up a paintbrush.

  •    As gardens are on the agenda, here's one I did earlier - much earlier - in pastels. One of my projects is on inspiration from your garden, so I hope to put on more garden-inspired arty images to encourage you to have a go. I would love to see ANY of your attempts on anything related to plants and gardens. Photos too can be lovely. Winter will soon be here, so let's extend the season of colour by creating some bright and lovely moments of our own.  Please friend me and let me have your e-mail to receive my projects.  All good wishes everyone,  Rainie x

I think I've peaked too early, anything further will be of too low quality to foist on higher brows? I will wait to be imbued with a fancy for more. Like Captain Oates, I may be some time.

  • Looks fabulous , must be sad to leave it, but as you say there are upsides too. Climbing and descending Everest is not to be reccommended at our age!

  • Hey

Call that a big garden? My veg plot is bigger than that! Then there's the raised bit (our name for the part of the garden where we have our oil tank, 2 rambling roses, herb wheel, bay tree, honey suckle, the shrubbery containing 12 or so shrubs, a front shrubbery containing about 10 shrubs, back garden with the apple tree, rhododendron and another shrubbery with a dozen azaleas, front lawn, back lawn and side lawn, a back shubbery with half a dozen shrubs, a silver birch tree, Japanese cherry tree and chusan palm. That's it, most of it I think.

Below is most of the veg plot.

    Take care and stay safe
