I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • THE view of garden is a miracle

    Still being here day

Communicate with lovely people here is uplifting.

  • That looks like a lovely relaxing space to be in Ruth.

  • Don't fret Norberry. The birdies here do very well thankyou courtesy of all the fruit they help themselves to. The squirrel also does very well and recently bought her twins on a conducted tour of all the ch oice spots (bird bath: 'here's where you have a wash'; Raised beds: 'here's a good spot to bury those acorns etc. etc. Anyway, here's our little patch at the back.[one I did earlier and why is it now squashed in here?]

That looks like an RHS winner Rainy. I have given up the struggle with ours at the moment as the heat got to me a week ago. I am trying to keep it nice in case we do eventually move. One month to go, supposedly!  Everything comes into our garden to munch.

I put anti deer gates up to keep the deer out, the next day they were in the garden with the gates behind them looking through the conservatory window! My brother says we should all have freezer full of venison!

  • Lovely blossom. Is it a magnolia?

  • Happy Anniversary Ruth xxx

  • Thank you Salis x

  • I'm amazed how high deer can jump!

It's a real effort keeping the garden nice when you're selling a house. Hard enough keeping the house clean and tidy. Hope it all goes smoothly. RD

  • yes I think it's M. stellata. ???

  • Doesnt look like  m. stellata to me ( that has white star like flowers) Looks magnificent though, I love magnolias.

    My 3 good things today:

Greenman festival definitely going ahead 19th - 22nd Aug. So I will be enjoying the delights of Glanusk Park in mid wales, listening to bands I have never heard of and either plodging through mud, or hopefully delighting in the sun. Colleague used to say she loved getting drunk in a field - sadly I dont drink any more.

It rained a bit, so I dont need to water plants yet again,

Several pub meals lined up in next week - no cooking for me.

, lucky you having deer nearby ( i know they can be too nearby). Hope house sale proceeds. I am still waiting for you to get that dog. I will make a decision re my next dog/s once I come back from Greenman. I have my eye on a couple of staffies in a local rescue. I  only noticed the other day that my daughters car reg is OBS, so i might have to buy her car off her!
