I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • Hi

I have to add my voice to the growing list of empathetic friends. Losing a doggie pal that you have given much of your time and love to is like losing a family member.

And as you say, it's knowing the right time is the essential key moment. Another oldie to give a loving home to sounds like a good idea to me also.

Take care and stay safe OBS.

    Tvman xx

    Love life and family.
  • I’ve never minded my weight. The doc used to get upset about it as it could harm my health but my response these days is sorry cancers doing that.

Sorry Richard, off the cuff remark. I've recently lost a stone and they weren't bothered about that, very odd.

  • No need for apologies it was an off the cuff response. My humour is still alive lol

  • I've only just seen these messages about your dog and wanted to sympathise. They leave such a void when they go. I have friends who fostered staffies who'd been used as fighting dogs and they were covered in scars, not to mention the scars inside. It always did the heart good to see how their lives were turned around after just a few months of care and love. That they could trust humans again after all they'd been through was a miracle in itself. I hope you feel able to take on another. Best wishes, RD

Right, time to lift my game and try to keep this positive thread going.  3 Good Things...

1 Am now confined to a hospital bed downstairs in my therapy room & have been given a care plan for 3 visits a day.

Had the 1st visit, 12 days later and with a temporary company who can only offer 1 visit a day, but it makes a huge difference. Lovely to have a bed bath & change of sheets without having to struggle or worry about my sister.

Going to sneak OBS's 1 crap thing in here, the carer lowered the bed onto the night drainage urine bag which burst, all over my new carpet! Could be worse, we've had a few disasters of our own and it's only a carpet.

2 Everyone seems to be singing from the same song sheet about pain management which which is a big relief and planning ahead so we won't run out of painkillers again.

3 My goal is to be able to sit up so that I can use the wheelchair and possibly get outside again. The physio is coming tomorrow to do an assessment & trial.  I'd almost completely lost faith in the palliative team after a tough week so it's very reassuring that they're taking this seriously and making it a priority.

I'm hoping for some stability now, as long as I can engage with people it's worth digging deep for a while and we're getting the same promises of better weather to come. I hope everyone is able to find at least 3 good things to enjoy. xx

  • An interesting three good things Tinalay! Can you claim on insurance for the carpet? It would be fun filling out the form!

I am so happy that you are feeling, more confident in your palliative care team, it must make a big difference in how you feel about what they offer you.

    Best wishes

It sounds to me like you are clambering out of a miserable dank dark hole.

I can see a dozen good things in your post. Sit up on your bed and you will hear everyone on here scream their congrats.

I can do bed baths as well, if you find yourself stuck, just another element of my varied skill set.

Its coming together and I am so pleased to read this. Xxx
