I know that started this brilliant idea so I wanted to carry it on for her and as the forum has become a little gloomy recently as we face loosing them both soon.

So

1. daloni and dizzie outlasted their prognosis by years and I am sure proved that you can have quality of life despite doctors best guesses and we all benefited from knowing them on here.

2. I just got back from a fabulous holiday in Galicia, northern Spain. I walked more than I have for months (chemo pushed me into a wheelchair) the food and wine was fab and I met old friends and laughed a lot.

3. Macmillan have admitted that their upgrade has been a bit sh*t and are working on improving it. Hurrah for Macmillan who have admitted it didn't go well. How many organisations actually come out and say that.

I don't like to think that newbies think that we are a miserable lot, what struck me on here when I came was how much joy, laughter and living went on despite cancer.

  • My 3 things today

    1. Daughter has a completion date for buying her house
    2. OH did home made boston baked beans with home smoked pork ribs for tea tonight
    3. Online book group tonight and I will be able to attend because yesterdays chemo was deferred.

These all sound like really things but mentioning that some husbands cook can cause marital difficulties for the husbands who don't cook. 'Just sayin'  as your chum SiT would say.

Is all that good or is all that good? Thats all good.x

  • My OH has always enjoyed cooking, he used to say it helped him relax, though now that he's retired i don't know why he needs to relax!

He probably needs to relax after a day rushing to and from the sofa dishing out hot drinks and sympathy, remember?

  • I absolutely love cooking, I've cooked most of my married life. Sometimes there's a bit of strife because we have different ideas to cook so nowadays one does the main meal one night, next night the other one cooks. We both have different meals we're better at but in general my way is the better way lol Relaxed

  • I tend to avoid the cooking these days because he enjoys it so. I will make pudding sometimes though, planning a zabaglione one day this weekend and possibly boozy prunes in marscapone another day

What do you mean, you are not posh, this is fine dining. SiT has told me about it. What we eat, he wouldn't give to his hounds.

  • Sounds lovely, I'd struggle to make the prunes boozy, much better to eat the prunes and drink the booze lol. Going to have to look up zabaglione, not sure if it's a type of pasta. I could have looked it up first and commented how much I love it but I can't, I'm going to consult chef Google now.

    Enjoy your weekend Sal

  • I looked up zabaglione. Looks a bit like egg custard using egg yolks.

I love egg sustain and crepe caramel.

we had a home delivery a week ago from cote at home and had scallops lobster frites and crepe caramel.. you just heat it up in the oven. Except the crepe caramel.

it was good as a treat

now get a fish delivery from Hamilton’s in Devon. They pack everything in packs of 2 so you can freeze them. Lovely fresh fish
