There’s been discussion in a couple of threads about the impact of corona on cancer treatment.
On one side, there’s the advice on keeping safe including social distancing. We are all at risk of developing serious illness if we catch the virus so we need to follow the guidelines on social distancing. I don’t intend to rehearse that hear.
On the other is guidance to doctors about cancer treatments, including who should be offered treatment. It asks doctors to weigh up the risks of making patients more likely to be seriously ill if they catch the virus and more likely to catch the virus because treatment means they are less able to socially isolate against the benefits the treatment confers. I’m not sure what’s happening in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland but I imagine it will be something similar. Cancer Research UK is monitoring announcements and running a blog:
