Dear friends
I’m on my way home from the hospital after picking up ct scan results.
The bad news is that the cancer has grown since the start of the immunotherapy in October. Boo. Mostly the tumours are still too small to cause me problems but they’ve grown enough to take me off the trial.
My doc did have something else to offer me. It’s another trial, this time of a drug that inhibits DNA repair. The theory is that this drug, combined with the brca mutation (which also inhibits DNA repair) might give the cancer a double whammy. It’s the same theory as the PARP inhibitor that I took back in 2016. Anyone with a science interest, it’s an ATR inhibitor known as AZD6738. It comes as a tablet. Not much is known about the side effects but they include the usual - nausea, fatigue, anaemia.

They hope to start me on this either just before or just after Christmas.
Here I go again.....

Drat! Another sideways pic. This is the racletterie 6 in action (I kid you not). On top is a stone on which we griddled peppers, mushrooms and tomatoes. Under the stone is a heating element. Under this are little grill pans into which we put slices of Swiss cheese. The cheese melted and bubbled and we scraped it onto small roasted potatoes, added a few griddled veg and some black pepper and tucked in.
It really was a fun way to eat. You do have to be careful what you drink - warm tea or white wine are recommended. Cold water, fizzy drinks or beer will lead to the cheese congealing into a solid lump in your tummy.
Did it beat a cheese toasty? Hell yes.

Dear tvman
There is no "V" sound in Kauai! It's pronounced like "cow eye" for mainlanders and "Cow-ah-ee" for locals. Short u with emphesis on the "why" sound and spoken quickly rather than languishing at each sylable. I say Cow-ah-ee. Hawaiian is difficult!
Hugs
Millie
Thank you so much Millie.
Now, do you consider yourself Hawaiian first and American second, or the other way around?
Tvman xx
Do you have duel nationally? I have both American and English.
Hi
Are you asking where you can buy a raclette grill? Google throws up several options.
This is a one person version powered by tea lights
This is a reasonably priced electric version
Have fun!

Thanks. I’m going to go for the electric one. By the way it’s a lovely picture of you. Here’s one of me.
Ah bless you. That’s not me in the photo. That’s my Geneva based Dutch friend who brought me the cheese and the fun gadget.
I am in the middle of this picture which, for reasons best known to the software, is upside down. Why?

Also thanks for your photo. You look warm in that hat and with the beautiful cat. So many books in the background!
