So the good part was collecting my daughter from the airport. 1st time I've seen her in over 2 months- bn working in the States.

The bad point was only got a few hours with her b4 being admitted 2 hospital. Neutropenic- painful back, nausea & developed the shivers. Sort of knew it would result in definitely a doc visit more likely a trip 2 a&e.

Hope I'm not in 2 long. I'm missing my comfy bed Disappointed

Night all

  • Well WB, I'm so pleased you are home and like Daloni & Tinalay I had a double take when I read you were going back to work on Monday and read that bit a further twice, talking to myself saying "how silly, surely not" then my husband asked what's silly? Only then did I realise I had said it out loud! I was so taken aback! Then when I read your post today about your daughter going back to uni in two weeks, I was flabbergasted! I know you said your work have been good with you but honestly, no matter who you work for or how long you've been there, there's always someone else who can step up and do your job! Seriously wouldn't you rather spend extra time with your daughter for the short time she is here?? I definitely know what my answer would be, no contest! Also giving yourself time to rest and your body to recover before you start your chemo, to give it the best chance of working!

When I read Daloni's reply and then Tinalay's, I thought, OK point made there's no need for me to get on my soapbox too BUT when I read tonight about your daughter going back to uni, I just had to add my twopence worth! I hope you realise WB that if we didn't care, we just wouldn't comment! I do hope sense prevails!

    Love Annette x

Lol there is methodology 2 my going 2 work nxt week.

Easy shift Mon, 1/2 day Tues, chemo #2 Wed then working Thurs & Fri and then I have the whole of the nxt week off 2 spend with daughter & husband - whoo fingers crossed no hiccups.

Husband is currently knocking a Star Wars model 2gether in the kitchen (yes at 12.08am!!) & the poor pup is petrified & is squashed under my coffee table...honestly! Whilst daughter is twittering on about potential dissertation topics 4 her PE Teacher's Uni course. If anyone has ever done that qualification (big ask) then drop us some ideas please b4 my brain explodes.

  • Hi

I love you posts - it seems from your tone of voice that you have strength in abundance - I really admire your determination and I love your humour.

As for PE topics, I have not done that course but as the parent of an 11 year old about to embark on the start of her secondary school education and the open ended wallet for all she needs, I'd like to know why the school system is so sexist and why the uniform (PE kit) is still different to the boys and costs more money! Why do they have to wear skirts with a logo on when the boys can have shorts from a supermarket? Anyway, that's my soapbox aired for today... I'm sure the choice of sports will be sexist too when she eventually gets there but I won't presume, maybe there will be sumo wrestling for all of them.

Have a great day - the building of the star wars model sounds intense. We're travelling up to North Wales today (if I ever get packed) and the weather is fab here at the moment - rain for the rest of the week so we chose the right day to travel - baking hot day in a car with three children, what could be more fun?

Hi WB hope going back to work goes well for you. I admire your  courage.

I had to give up the job I loved in a fantastic team when my manager changed and did everything she could to make it difficult. Then she left not long after and I often wish I had held out longer and perhaps just went on the sick. I am still in touch with my colleagues and the new manager has even asked if I would consider doing some commissioned work for them. However because I took ill health retirement and drew my pension it would be too complicated.

However when I look back over the 18 months since retirement, yes I am poorer financially, but I have been able to spend so much time with my family and even provided childcare for my grand children. I have also been able to help friends that have been so good to me in my times of need. Most of all I have not had to feel I am letting people down when treatment or the cancer robs me of my strength.

But I know when I see my work friends tomorrow and I am at a loose end at home I will always wish I was back making a difference at work. Even though I know now that I could never accept not being the best at my job which meant working all hours and it is impossible.

Take care only you will know when the time is right to stop but listen to those close to you aswell.

     Love

    Thanx Maz & all

That's 2 days down & everything has gone fine. Broken myself in gently. Off 4 chemo #2 of the E.C. variety in 9 hours time

BCN has arranged 4 me 2 have a change of anti-emetic as the nausea was quite dreadful last time, taking it the night b4 - side effects said drowsiness but as u can c I'm wide awake (2 quote Timmy Mallett from the 80s!!) Also suggesting we try those immune boosting belly jabs again - oh how i relish that again...but if it does the job...

Daughter celebrated her 21st 2day - some crackin embarrassing photos posted on FB. Since Sat we've bn out 4 meals twice & I have another 4 meals out 2 go up till Sun - shall resemble a barrage balloon soon.

    Night all

    Hi WB

Sounds like you’re living your best life ( as my daughter md and nieces would say). Happy 21st birthday to your daughter and darn that chemo for interrupting the celebrations
