1. I'm just about to head off on a weekend with my eldest daughter (10) for a mothers and daughters activity weekend. It's raining but the wellies are packed! Hoping I survive!
2. Head a tiny 3 week old baby this morning - gorgeous remembering new life - so small and perfect!
3. Had a delivery of some amazing biscuits from a friend - special.
Have a good weekend all, despite all the hard.

A tough week emotionally this week as I started treatment again, & everything felt a bit hopeless....these milestones seem to knock me a bit sideways. So my 3 good things this week are:
1. Riding early yesterday morning with 2 of my 3 riding buddies who talked nonsense at me all the way round, in glorious sunshine through September stubble, a fabulous way to start the day and breathe the good air.
2. My best friend arrived from Spain this week, she is coming to stay and look after me and hopefully we will have some fun too, in between my afternoon naps.
3. Today another friend drove for an hour and a half to visit, bringing flowers and chocolates and we took the dogs to the beach in yet more sunshine (was this lovely weather forecast!?). We’ve not seen each other enough in the past few years as life got in the way but lovely to see him now.
there.....a tough week but looking at that list a good week too.
love to all, enjoy what’s left of the weekend xxxx
Hi
Starting treatment is always rough. I’m glad you’ve had such a nice time with friends though.
My three good things
1. I led the opening session at a Macmillan Cancer Voices conference on Saturday. I must have been more anxious than I let on to myself as I dreamt I overslept and missed it! The session went really well and my new dress got a round of applause
2. My neighbour is holding a Macmillan coffee morning later this month so I made four patchwork bags to sell there. Tackled the pile of scraps too. The bags are beautiful (she says humbly)
3. I am getting on top of the pain I’ve been experiencing and managed an e-cycle through Knole Park. The deer looked beautiful in the sunshine
xx
Lovely to read all these good things in amongst the harsher realities of living with this.
So as requested by the insurance company I asked the question at my monthly review on thurs, and have been given a prognosis of months, possibly up to 12 months. That was a relief because things seem so much worse lately, and I've been feeling like I've been circling the drain.
Can get up to a lot of mischief in that time, and who knows what else might be available treatment wise.
My 3 (more) good things.
1. Went to a Macmillan cheese and wine fund raiser on Sat night with friends of my sister. We had such a good laugh and raised lots of money.
2. My sons and their other halves came for a pre holiday dinner so we could talk travel arrangements, what we'd all like to do etc
Lots of laughter and excitement, it'll be 31* when we land
3. I cooked a vegan meal from scratch from a recipe book, and it was lovely! No false modesty here, last time I used quorn, not vegan, and got trifle for desert, so really needed to redeem myself.
Hope everyone has a good week.
4 sleeps, eek! xx
“Circling the drain”....what a good description AND it made me laugh!!! have a lovely holiday when it comes.
Daloni, your new dress sounds awesome as does your crafting prowess x
Thanks Roobarb, only 4 sleeps now!!!
Todays 3 good things
1. Managed to get insurance, £212 for the week, but worth it for peace of mind for my family. That's priceless.
2. Had lunch with 2 colleagues who have become great friends and given me so much support over the last 18 months.
3. They presented me with a 'Random Crap' tote bag with holiday essentials, including a microfibre towel, water bottle and phrase book, AND an inflatable drink holder. Perfect. xx
My three good things from yesterday
1. I did lots of little jobs that had been piling up such as a trip to the bottle bank, charity shop to drop off clothes my daughter has cleared out ahead of going to uni and restock the greetings card box, M&S for new socks and pants all round. Very satisfying.
2. The tulip bulbs I ordered arrived. There will be pots of orange and cream and purple and white loveliness next spring.
3. Divine milk chocolate with sea salt and caramel. Nuff said.
Xx
‘Circling a drain’ is the perfect description. It hit the nail on the head
My three good things
I had a lovely pampering session getting my fingers and toes ready for their holiday in Mallorca on Tuesday. Bright red this time. Amazing how much better I feel just glancing at my hands and feet.
Lovely walk down to the river last night with my husband and the dogs. Surprised when a bottle of beer and some crisps came out of his pocket. It was great sitting in the evening sunshine enjoying my beer and chuckling at the daft antics that our young dog gets up to.
I’m being taken to Edinburgh today to buy my birthday present and then a nice meal out at a new restaurant which looks out over the city. Nice sunny day for a good view. Now will it be earrings or a handbag? Probably earrings as I’m far to mean to spend money on an expensive handbag.
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible
Polly
Oooh polly, Edinburgh, and it’s a gorgeous day here so you will see it at its best! Have a fantastic time x
