1. I'm just about to head off on a weekend with my eldest daughter (10) for a mothers and daughters activity weekend. It's raining but the wellies are packed! Hoping I survive!

2. Head a tiny 3 week old baby this morning - gorgeous remembering new life - so small and perfect!

3. Had a delivery of some amazing biscuits from a friend - special.

Have a good weekend all, despite all the hard.

  • Hi Daloni

Re your library's audiobook section, are the audiobooks up to date best sellers or older titles as libraries usually have in paper form? It's not the individual library's fault because funding is cut, jobs go and hours are shortened.

I haven't been to my local library for about a year, I used to go on a Friday morning for the free tea and biscuits but then the darkness closed in on me. I used to go one or two other days, hoping for a chat but no one talks, they both sit reading newspapers or books! Sometimes there were 4 people lol.

I hope you don't have it too rough after your chemo, you're a great example of not letting things get you down, you have your girls to take care of and you're doing a great job of that.

    Hi TVman

ah thanks. I am not too bad this morning. The steroids give me a lift for a couple of days and they reduced the chemo dose last time as I was starting to get peripheral neuropathy in my fingers. I feel as though I’m weathering it a bit better as a result.

Thr library seems to have reasonably up to date audio books. There’s certainly books I want to borrow at any rate. I used to go to the library with the girls every week when they were small but I have not visited for years. They have had savage cuts, you’re right.

    Have a good day

    xxx

  • Hi Daloni, I was pleased to read they have slightly lowered your chemo dose and you sound a bit happier with that! Yes, We used to take our children to the library every week when they were young and now our children are doing the same with their children!

However, I love my Kindle White! Having arthritis in my hands, they get sore and tired holding a book but with my KW it's great. Also I can read it with the bedroom light off, so it doesn't bother my husband! Most of the books, I get free and if you want audio with one they charge around £1! Anyone who has a reading app or Kindle etc, I recommend they log into BookBud. New authors put their books on free hoping you like them and will then go onto buy them. There are older well known authors who also come up in a weekly deal page! It's terrific. Happy reading everyone!

  • For the first time ever! MY THREE GOOD THINGS TODAY .......

    1. Getting out of bed! Been floored for over a week since getting home from hospital, had an infection!

    2. Had a shower, washed my hair and dressed, without help!

    3. My grandchildren (with mums&dads) popped in to see me. (I didn't want them to see me when I couldn't lift my head off the pillow).

Things are on the mend.....I hope!!

    2. We were joined by another friend i hadn’t seen for 20 years and we all spent the afternoon on the lakeside, lounging in the sunshine and chatting

    3. Cheese fondue for dinner. Then a mass cuddle with my girls and falling asleep in a heap on a giant sofa

  • Hi all, Three good things.

At the top of my list today was my oncology appointment. I was told that I am no longer considered ‘incurable’. After 5 years, my cancer is inactive and he hopes not to see me there again! I was very surprised but apparently it does happen sometimes. I have to take the meds for the rest of my life and no one must ever stop them but WOW!! Now I don’t know but I suppose I had better leave this group since I no longer fit.

The sun has been shining a lot today although it has been cold.

I picked my granddaughters up from school and have had a lovely time with them.

    love and hugs

    Maggie xx
