In a previous thread we started a discussion on our Stoma’s outputs and the unpredictability of dealing with it.
This led to us sharing the names that we call them.
I thought I would be a little bit of fun to have a separate thread here.
Mines called Whoopi.
I was still unsure of it until I ate beans.
She then became a whoopee cushion.
Please share yours.
Called mine Etna as she reminded me of a volcano when she blows. Have only had her since August & had some difficult days so it's nice to be able to laugh at the silly names.
That's a great name and describes mine too! I've had mine(Brooke) since January and she still surprises me! This site is the best for having a laugh, lovely people who understand, because we're all going through the same thing!

Ollies Mum - absolutely - light relief - but important as when we're having a bad day these posts lift the spirits. Also you know everyone here understand and are gunning for you.
Although my three stoma ops ( last one early 2016) was some time ago I received a telephone call from my surgeon in August to say I was 10 years cancer free and would only need another phone call next August just to say hello.
Physically I feel fine but mentally I am struggling big time. In March '20 when the pandemic really hit the UK something triggered massive trauma which hasn't left me. I've been on anti-depressants and other unpleasant medication with awful side effects which are hugely addictive. Every day is a struggle - even getting out of bed is difficult. I'm struggling with anxiety and depression. Awful distressing thoughts and emotions drag me down. I think I'm remembering the difficult time I had from 2010 until 2016 - possibly have PTSD. I think my brain keeps revisiting that time.
I want to say to everyone to keep alert to your mental as well as your physical health. Mental health issues can be insidious and creep up on you and can overwhelm you before you know it.
