Hi Darren welcome to stoma support group or as I call it poo corner!

I'm sorry to read that you are having problems in thickening up your output.

When you say you were using Loperamide did you buy over the counter or was it prescribed by your GP as he can prescribe a large dose than the package leaflet states and can prescribe the following

    • 8 capsules or tablets or 16 spoonfuls of liquid (5ml each) in 24 hours if you bought them from a pharmacy or your doctor prescribed loperamide

But as you are also losing weight I recommend that you get an appointment with your GP to discuss this as this amount of weight loss is quite serious and he may have to give you some food supplements to combat the weight loss or carry out some investigations.

From reading your posts in the bowel group I can see you are getting frustrated and worried please do make an appointment with your GP and also speak to your stoma care nurse as soon as possible and hopefully between them they will come up with a solution to get your output under control.

The only other suggestion I can make is to suggest that you adopt a high fibre diet.

Would you please keep me informed how you getting on whilst I can't suggest a solution I'd like to be here to give you support when you need it or just to have a chat.

Let's see if we can change your user name to I am happy now.

    Keep in touch Darren.

    Regards

    Ian
