My husaband (77) had permanent colostomy in November last year and the bags are placed in black bags supplied by on-line supplier and then placed in general waste bin. I have bought bin-deodoriser to help as this is only emptied every three weeks by our council.
We would like to go on holiday but wonder what on earth he will do when staying in self-catering ccommodation in Germany, or even staying in a hotel. Has anyone else got solutions to this problem?
His stoma nurse keeps saying we should get away for a few days at least but hubbie reluctant to go due to this problem.
Thanks for reading this - hope somebody maybe has an answer!
Thanks ever so much for all your hard work here. Frank has ordered sample stoma bridge and read all you info. I put in friend request as I thought he would like to contact you privately however I think he is going to join community in his own right and then ask for friend request so I hope this will work.
I have downloaded Just Can't Wait card on my phone and sent for one by post for Frank.
AMCare is company supplying catheters and stoma bags, dry wipes, black bags, hyperseals and wee yellow spray to help get bag off skin. They are one piece bags and I do not need to help him. Stoma nurse said she would send out some 2 piece bags for him to try meaning he would not have to change the sticky bit every day but she has not done so. Will ask when we see her 11 June.
Living in Scotland we get free prescriptions so do not need to pay for bags etc so we're lucky that way.
Frank will be in touch in due course (I hope!) Really nice touch the floral scarf or wrap!! He's still insisting it's different for him and no way can he wear bag under trousers.

Hi Sheena and Frank
I have received your friend request and have accepted thank you look forward to speaking directly with Frank.
As promised I now give you link to the companies who supply support underwear
I was also going to suggest that Frank might be interested in This but as I now know that you are Scotties he could wear instead our national dress I'm sure he would look grand in the kilt!
You don't have to wait for the stoma nurse to obtain samples of pouches you can order direct from the manufacturers and they will gladly let you have samples and I will forward the links for you.
Thanks for telling me you use Amcare which is a nice company to use and I've found them very nice to deal with and have lots of complimentary items they don't mention and you have to ask.
You should ask them about joining ME+ which is a little club that you can join and they have a lot of help in the firm of publications and starter kit link to follow.
If we can keep this between ourselves I'm also a Scottie but have been exiled to England!
I am really interested to know why Frank thinks he is different I know you mentioned about a back problem but is there something else that is making him think he can't wear his bag inside his trousers it can't surely be that he thinks it's a sporran. Seriously is something to do with s catheters?
Will be back shortly with some information
