I am new on this site as not had my operation yet, that’s 11th August 26 , just looking for any information people are willing to share. I have already been told I will have a stoma fitted (if that’s the right word) really don’t know what to expect. Does it hurt all the time, do you have to change the type of cloths you wear? Can the stoma leak? Etc etc

  • Hi Julin,If you scroll back up to Sarah’s message to you and click on where it says Bladder cancer forum that will take you to the group.I’m glad the stoma nurse explained a lot.A notebook is a good idea I took one when I saw the surgeon.Love Jane xx

    1. Good afternoon Julin, I've had mine since March. I'll be honest I hated it, thought my life was ruined etc etc. I just couldn't get my head around it. After a few days at home you start to accept it. The stoma nurses are brilliant. You get the odd leakage to start, it's finding the right bag that suits you. I'm about 5 months down the line now and I don't like mine tucked in clothing yet I feel as if it's trapped. I wear long t shirts and loose fitting clothes. Hope this helps

sorry about delay reading your comments am away having a break prior to surgery and the internet here is almost not existent, I think it will Come more real once the operation is done, though sooner the better as in pain at present. Really worried how people will react if they realise. Hope you get more used to your stoma soon, I have no idea how long it will take me
