P.S for anyone fair like myself I dyed my eyebrows and once I had shaved my head to a number 1 I dyed it again. Gives you a bit more of a non bald look before it finally goes lol

    Hi all,

Should have had my first chemo yesterday but it did not happen. They tried with 5 different veins but they are all so full of valves that they gave up. Went today and they found a working vein on the second try. So all sorts of nice bruises on my hand and lower arm. Will have a Hickman line fitted before my next chemo, which will be so much easier all round.

Went out for a nice meal to celebrate (minus the wine of course). At the moment i have no side effects - but maybe that's usual on the actual day of the chemo. Hope it will be like this tomorrow.

So: Next big thing in my diary is Silverstone (and my birthday) and then the prosthesis fitting on the 23 June, which i look forward to very much because i HATE the softie.

    Take care,

    Laila

God that happened to me - five goes and bruises everywhere! It got better though, although the line is probably a better idea than seeing what it's like next time. It also took 5 goes before they could get the anaesthetic line in for my op. I don't think I've ever been more tempted to bop someone in my whole life without actually doing it. I loathed the softie too. Didn't matter what I did with the thing, it would never align with my real one. My husband used to call it the pin cushion. I'm much happier with the prosthesis but will be very glad when I can finally have a reconstruction next year.
Anyone know how Caroline got on?

Hi everyone, My computer is driving me crazy everytime I get my message typed and try to post it crashes. I got on really well at the hospital all the 14 lymph nodes removed were clear and I will hopefully get away with having oestrogen blocking medication and not chemo. I will have to have radiotherapy but won't worry about that yet.
Thanks everyone for thinking about me, I'm wishing you all well.
    xx

    Hi All

Have some sunshine back today in Suffolk hope it the same where you are( make you feel better).

Dracsam It took me about 6 weeks for my arm to feel better so it still early day for you. Yes my grade don’t seem right when I read the other posts, I think it was Jean pasted a link some time ago about grading I couldn’t see where I fitted in there either. I am back up the hospital in July I will have to ask my consultant and get her to explain .

Chelle I have been taking tamoxifen for eight weeks now no problems I was advised to take them in the evening,I do get some hot flushes but it is a good thing for us hormone fed ladies as our body is being staved of estrogen which fed our cancers.

Paula you look great I wouldn’t bother about a wig it really suit you, I have now got that amount of hair grown back I went round my mums yesterday for the first time without my wig and they told me not to bother with my wig as the short hair suited me I don’t think I will grow it long again as it was down my back this time last year,I don’t wear me wig in the house at all now so alot of family and friends are seeing me as i am I just stick a hat on when my head feel cold, my next step is to go shoping without it. I wish you well with the rest of your treatment.

Laila you poor thing I know how you feel I had to have a pick line put in for my chemo ,I wish you well with the rest of your treatment.

hope everyone else is ok have a good weekend.

    Take care Margaret

    Hi all,

Did not sleep at all last night, did not take my regular menopause sleeping tablet. So feeling quite knackered at the moment. Will probably have a doze in front of the TV this afternoon.

Steph, beautiful sunshine here in Stockport as well. Where are you? Think we have to go shopping in the cabriolet!

    Have a nice weekend all,

    Love, Laila

    Morning Girls

    Paula you look GREAT.

Poor Kay and Laila, all those attempts to find a vein. Just what you don't need when getting your first chemo.

Fantastic news, Caroline. We were all thinking about you.

Well it's nearly 11 o'clock now, so you will have joined the baldy club, Stef!!!

Margaret you sound ingood spirits. So we have sunshine in Manchester, Stockport, Suffolk and here for me in Stafford.
The weekend looks good too, weatherwise. We are off to a BBQ at our youngest's home tomorrow. So wherever you are I hope you all have a lovely weekend.

I'm really pleased that you are finding this lot of chemo easier too, Chelle. It's like some kind of a bonus after the first lot we had.

I am feeling really good today. Sleeping is back to normal. So from now until the next chemo (12 days) I should be relatively normal. But, hey, I was never normal in the first place, according to friends and family!!

    Love to you all
    Jean xx

Morning ladies. Thankyou all so much for your reassuring comments on the hair front. It's such a relief and sooo easy to get ready in the morning lol
Steph, GO GIRL! I am sure you are going to look fab!
Lalla, so sorry about the veins on your first chemo, it must have been so painful. I hope the hickman makes it easier for you.
Margaret, great to hear your hair is back. What a great feeling for you.
Jean, great you are sleeping. I got six hours last night so not too bad.
I am hoping my new tabs have sorted the sickness as I had a great day yesterday, fingers crossed they keep working.
Steph, lets have a look at the new you when the hair is done!
Has anyone lost their eyelashes and brows? If so when and what did you use to replace them. I have found some on the internet and wondering which were best.
Have a great day everyone xxxxx
