Hello my name is Heather I have just been diagnosed with brest cancer last week for the first time (and last I hope) Both my sisters have had cancer, one died seven month ago Im a bit scared of what to expect with the chemo. Can anyone tell me how soon after the treatment do you start to feel ill? How soon do you lose your hair?

Hi everyone. 20 weeks of intense chemo starts week after next followed by 5 weeks radio. Thanks to everyone on here I knew what was coming side effect wise so not too many shocks.Worked out well really as the chemo will be done on the Island(I am on the isle of wight) and the radio which has to be done in October is on the mainland, which means I will have closed the hotel we have and the travelling won't be such a pain. Jean I hope the infection has calmed down and to everyone thanks, it made today easier knowing what was coming.Hope everyone is having a good day xxx

    Hi All,

Jean, sorry to hear about the infection, hope the antibiotics work!! Must be a pain on top of everything else. On the plus side, glad the mouth is feeling a litle better..

Debbie, (or should that be Demi) your attitude sounds great & your "uppy ness" is definitely not too much! Hope hubby is feeling a little better..

Marian, good luck with the microwaving in June!

Jo, hope you have a fab birthday on Tuesday & have a great time in Edinburgh! The old adage that life begins at 40 couldn't be more relevant.. Will raise a glass to a new beginning for you.

Kay, great that you've nearly finished the herceptin & I hope you don't have too long to wait for the reconstruction..

Paula, good luck with the chemo next week, glad you haven't got far to travel..

All my best to everyone else.. Hope you have a good day & the weather is better wherever you are!

    xx

P.S. My attire for the next few days.. :-)

    Hi guys,

I want to second what Marmalade has written above (rather than write pretty much the same things twice!!). Sounds like you're mostly keeping well and spirits are up. Jean i'm so sorry you have an infection to deal with on top of chemo :-(

I haven't written for a few days as my last chemo reallly knocked me for six!! I've slept, been exhausted and felt sick for a good week now. Although tired, i think i'm alittle brighter today. So fingers crossed i'm on the up again. Trouble is i'm diabetic and have another condition called lupus and together with the chemo they wash me out..boo-hoo!

Anyway heres to a better day for us all x

    Just a question..

Does the Difflam mouthwash just help with mouth sores or does it help get rid of the funny taste in your mouth?? Will it make food and drink taste better/normal again???

    Thanks
    Chelle x x

    Hi Chelle

I agree that last dose of EPI was the worst. I'm so glad we don't have to have anymore of that one.

Let's hope the CMF is kinder to us. I have been told that it's not as bad.

I didn't have ulcers or mouth sores, just very rough feeling gums and that awful taste in my mouth. The difflam does help with the awful taste and is not at all unpleasant to use. It hasn't got rid of it altogether but there is a vast improvement. My GP has put it on repeat prescription for me and I'll most certainly be using it again and again.

Thanks to Lorraine for mentioning it on the board.

    Love Jean x
