    Hi Everyone,

Hope nobody got lost in the fog today! It's so bad here I could barely see in front of me. Unfortunately, I did manage to find my way to work.. :-)

Heatherann, hope work is alright and you're not too tired and hope you're feeling ok generally. If you don't pick this up until the weekend, hope you enjoy your time off and hope you get to go on another great walk.

Chelle, hope all is well with you today. Hope you're feeling well and sorry to hear about the hair loss, it can't be easy..if the dodgy wig makes an appearance, at least you'll make you're hubby smile.

Marigold, sorry to hear what you are going through. Glad to hear that it's not going too badly for you, but sorry that the steroids are keeping you awake at night. Really hope you manage to get some sleep!

Fran, wishing you lots of luck for your mammogram, I will keep everything crossed for you. My sis had her masectomy last April and I know how much she wants her reconstruction, although she will have the other one removed and reconstructed at the same time. I really hope they arrange it for you soon!

Hope you all have a good day! Love and best wishes to you all..

    xx

    Afternoon all,

Last night most of my hair just fell out- yikes!!! Everytime i ran my fingers through my hair i was left with a handful of hair!! I went to bed looking double my age (like an old, old woman) with some long bits and some bald patches! So this morning my husband shaved it all off for me. It is heartbreaking but i dont look half as bad as i thought i would! Anyway....yes....the dodgy wig is out!!! Im currently prancing around my house wearing the wig and a hat on top of it and it looks ok. Ive also made sure im wearing makeup and earrings so that im looking as good as i can. Over all its not too bad (would prefer to have my own hair though)!

Franm1962- good luck for friday. Its a lifetime of worry from now on i guess. Please let us know how you get on.

Marmalade- so glad you made it to work (boo-hoo)!! Its still very overcast here where i live.

Heathann- I second marmalade. Hopefully you're coping with work and not finding it too tiring. Relax on your days off.

    Take care girlies

    Hi Chelle,

Sorry to hear about the hair!! Guess the only good thing is it's one less thing to worry about happening. Glad you're looking good in the wig and you're feeling ok.. I'm sure you're hair will grow back quickly! Do feel for you though, it must be a shock when it happens. My worry would be that underneath my hair I've got a really funny shaped head.. :-)

Anyway, just saw your post and wanted to send you a (((hug)))..

    xx

Hi chelle Sorry that you lost your hair! I bought a lot of costume jewlery which made me look and feel better. It doesnt take to long after the chemo is finnished for your hair to grow back in. I also got into hats and funky scarves. There are a few good sites but I cant remember the name of them try and google see what comes up.

Its crap that we are here but I find having you all to talk to helps me be strong.

    Take care all

    HI Chelle
Thanks for you reply to my post,i have just read your profile sorry to read you have so much going on you sound a strong lady. Like you i use to run my fingers through my hair and end up with a hand full or when i brushed it i couldn't belive the amount ,but as i said i had signs of hair growing back after the 4th treatment.I didn't shave my head as my grandchildren age 5&3 come round and ask how much hair have lost now nannie, now it's how much hair have you got nannie,so my wig is on and off all the time when they come round so they took my hair lost guite well. I hope you chemo go as well as mine have,i will keep you posted.

    Dear Marmalade, Lorraine and Margaret,

Thankyou so much for for your lovely messages and kind words. I too find great comfort with knowing i can come on here and find friends who understand this whole experience.
I look forward to my 4th treatment and hopefully my hair will start growing back just like yours Margaret. My 5 year old daughther says i look like a boy!!! Time goes so fast that it wont be long till just like your grandchildren she too will ask how much hair have you got!
Marmalade i know exactly what you mean about the funny shaped head!!

Fran my thoughts are with you for tomorrow, my fingers are crossed. Let us know how it goes. Good luck, big hugs.

Lorraine i shall be thinking of you tomorrow. Please keep me posted. All the best of luck, big hugs, keep smiling.

Love and hugs to you all

    Hi all
I am new to this site and I am currently going through chemotherapy at the moment (FEC). Had my third treatment yesterday and apart from heartburn and tiredness I am coping quite well. Have now been give Omeprazole for heartburn but it's not working yet!! After the chemotherapy I have to have radiotherapy and herceptin then tamoxifen.
I have also lost all my hair which upset me to start with but now my granddaughter calls it 'nanny's funny hair' and likes nothing more than taking my scarf or hat off and rubbing her hand over my head. It always make her chuckle although she doesn't like seeing 'nanny's other hair' lying around the place (my wig). She's only 2 and never fails to raise my spirits when I'm feeling down. My other granchildren have only seen me with the wig on so they think I've just changed my hairstyle.
When I go for my next chemo I have booked in for reflexology at the Macmillan centre whilst waiting for the drugs to be made up so I'm looking forward to that. Also booked in for their 'look good, feel better' afternoon in May. Felt like having a few treats.
Currently not wotrking as I gave up work to become my mum's full-time carer but sadly I lost her June 2008 and just as I was thinking about looking for another job so I got hit with this whammy! Life sucks sometimes doesn't it?
Anyway tonight I'm going to a do in aid of Marie Curie and the colour theme is yellow so I have a bright yellow and orange scarf to wear on my head to go with my yellow top so I look bright and cheery even if I feel like c**p!
Good luck Lorraine and Fran - hope the news is good.

    Hi Liz,

Sorry to hear what you are going through. I am not going through or have been through this myself, as it is my sister who has had breast cancer, but I just wanted to welcome you to the site. My sis went through all the treatments you have been through, so I do sympathise, as I know how difficult it all can be. It sounds like it's been a really hard year for you, so sorry about your mum. The reflexology sounds like a great idea though, as does the afternoon in May..good for you to book yourself some treats!

Hope you enjoy your do tonight and that you feel as bright as you look!

    All my best wishes..

    xx
