It will be as you said, because of the size of the tumour. The chemo should shrink the tumour enabling less invasive surgery and gives a better chance of removing it all. Post operative chemo or radiotherapy is used to kill off any remaining cancer cells.

I too am so sorry that you have breast cancer. I agree with Marmalade that its great you sound so positive, however please feel free to rant and rave on this site if the time comes. Don't be afraid to talk freely with your husband as im sure he wants to help and support you in anyway that he can.
