Hello my name is Heather I have just been diagnosed with brest cancer last week for the first time (and last I hope) Both my sisters have had cancer, one died seven month ago Im a bit scared of what to expect with the chemo. Can anyone tell me how soon after the treatment do you start to feel ill? How soon do you lose your hair?

    Hi Debbie,

It will be as you said, because of the size of the tumour. The chemo should shrink the tumour enabling less invasive surgery and gives a better chance of removing it all. Post operative chemo or radiotherapy is used to kill off any remaining cancer cells.

    Hi Debbie,

I too am so sorry that you have breast cancer. I agree with Marmalade that its great you sound so positive, however please feel free to rant and rave on this site if the time comes. Don't be afraid to talk freely with your husband as im sure he wants to help and support you in anyway that he can.

    Good luck for monday.

All my best wishes and big hugs

    Love Chelle x x

Ps. Hope everyone else is ok. Feel like im halfway into the chemo coma, this is the most ive done all day!! :-)

    Hi Debbie

So sorry you have had to join us here. You sound very positive so keep it up.

Chelle, I think because I start the steroids straight away, I join you in the chemo coma when I come off them, which is Saturday. I think you start yours then which is why you come out of the chemo coma. I wonder why they treat us differently.

Blossom, how were you after your chemo yesterday? Are you finished yet or do you have to have 1 or 3 more?

    Good luck for tomorrow, Heather.

Margaret do let us know how you get on with the radiotherapy as you are ahead of Chelle and I in the procedures.

    Love as always to everyone

    Hi

Hope everyone is ok after this weeks chemo. Heather good for you taking control and shaving your head! At least the weather is getting warmer not like me over the winter. My head got so cold.

Debbie I had a large tumor and had to have chemo before my mastectomy. As Marmalade said the smaller they cant reduce it the easier it is to remove. All the best and just ask away there are plenty people here that can help you through this.

The radio isnt to bad the worst thing was having to travel every day to the hospital. Good luck Margaret!

Had a fab time with my neice but I am exhausted so will have a couple of lazy days.

    Hope you are all ok

    Lots of love

  • Hi all

hope youre all keeping ok considering circumstances. I took my daughter to see Marley and Me lastnight - DONT WATCH IT - the whole cinema was full of women crying into tissues - very sad at end but great film until the sad bit.

Got results and i feel quite lucky my breast lump is only 18mm and they say 3 nodes are affected the biggest being 23mm so thats tiny in my eyes. Told my Nana yesterday who is 82 and she just ran off the phone and said oooh i just get your mum (as mum had just taken her home and was there) will have to ring her today check she ok. The strongest female in my family up to now is my 13yr old daughter. :-)

Going shoppin weekend for some pretty pj's for easy access when go in hosp on 27th for ops on the 28th - never been in hosp except for giving birth. I think i going to burn out soon as since found out last wed 8th have been living life to max - but am staying up late and as soon as i stir in the morning i have to get up and make the most of the day - plus start thinking as soon as wake up, i like the quiet hour before everyone else gets up.

Welcome Debbie - like you im new to site. And have really poo short term memory so finding it hard to remember names and where all these great ladies are up to with procedures etc. so you will all have to forgive me if i get mixed up.

Have a nice weekend ladies i live in Manchester and its forecast sunny (not 25 degrees but hey ho - sun is sun).

    Love stef x

hi jean, i have recently joined the site and i am a breast cancer patient too. i have had the chemo, and radiotherapy. and i am on the five year tablet. i hope you are ok at the moment how is the treatment going. i will be truthful, the chemo was awful for me.but the radiotherapy just made me tired. i am quite a positive person so i try not to worry about things. i do hope you are ok at the moment, i know that the differnet moods and feelings of sickness and worry take over sometimes. but there are plenty of people on this site to help you through everything. i wish i would have found it last year but i a hear now good luck keep in touch. ginax

    Helli All

A special Hi to Gina, Steph and Debbie. Good to have you on board, if you know what I mean. I'm sure you wish you weren't!! But you will have lots of us to chat to here.

Lorraine, nice to hear from you again. How are you getting on with the new treatment? Have you and your son and family recovered from that awful attack on him?

Chelle will be deep in chemo coma now, we'll probably hear from her at the weekend, which is when I fall into my chemo coma, when the effect of the steroids wear off. At the moment I could bounce off the walls. Hubby is having to chain me down!!!!

Awake at 5 a.m.this morning drinking coffee and reading a book. It'll probably be the same tomorrow. Unfortunately I waken Duncan up so he is drinking coffee and reading too!!

    Love to all

    Jean
