    Hi everyone
Jean, I hope you have an amazing time - you will have to show us a piccy of your creation - I would love to see it! Mamma mia is such a feel good movie!
At last I have a date for my operation! It will be 22 September - double mastectomy with DIEP flap. There was no evidence that the tumour has spread :-) On Monday I am starting a 3 week course of tamoxifen to stop the tumour feeding off the oestrogen implant. Evidently I will go into a sudden menopause which I have avoided so far. I think Pete will be the one who needs your support when that kicks in - I used to get terrible PMT!
We are going to have a little break in York brfore then. Because of Mum's illness and then mine we haven't had a holiday for some time -many of you seem to have breaks lately and they seem to have benefited you - no matter what the weather. I am looking forward to that.
Hope you all have a good weekend,
    lots of love xxxx
  • Hello, folks, I'm sorry to butt in on your thread, but have a friend who needs a 'buddy' to help her to get through the dreaded chemo stages, I just wondered if any bright 35 year-old-ish person who has, like her, been through the surgery and is now just into the chemo stages or possibly just past that stage, would help by befriending my friend, I'm happy to be found via 'friend' and p/m for email address and link up....(have been on the forum for a good year now myself, but not about BC)

    best wishes to you all

    Moomy

    Hi Paula

Had a great time. Staying awake was no problem. It was freezing!!! The sun went down about 8.30. and the film started at 9 and it just got colder and colder.

We had our picnic in the sunshine, which was great. The girls danced a bit to begin with but they soon flagged. They are only 3 and 4. Molly fell asleep just before 10! Katie survived to the end, only just!

By the end I was wrapped in my fleece, cagoule and one of the picninc blankets wrapped round me. Didn't take a photo of me like that!

    Hi all
I'm so sorry I haven't been able to get near a computer for the last week, the place where I normally go has got rid of there computers so I have to bring my lap top. The problem is as I work full time and only have the evenings to get to a computer now, where as before I used to pop in on my way home from work. I can't take my lap top to work as its too heavy for me to lug around since my surgery as I don't have very much strength any more, and I can't leave it in the car as it gets so hot in there and won't work. So thats enough wingeing, now for the good stuff.
I had my CT scan on thursday and all is good, there are no secondairies and lymph nodes are all normal size, so to say I'm pleased is an understatement, I' am exstatic.
I am having a bone scan and ultrasound on monday but I'm pretty confident they will be ok too.
The implants however have encapsulated and need to be sorted, so I think I shall be definately going back to UK to get these sorted, the choice has been made for me, but I'm not worried.
jean absolutely love the tinsel wig and yes after reading all your posts I was smiling, I'm glad you have come to the end of your chemo, you will look back now and ask yourself where the time went, I do.
chelle good luck for you to on tuesday, hope it all goes smoothly for you both.
once I had my last chemo however my hubby started to forget I was still going through the chemo effects and stopped helping as much as he was, expecting me to do all the things I used to be able to do, I had to give him a little reminder that I was still full of chemo and that it would take a little while for the body to get back to normal, lets hope your hubbies or partners don't do the same as he did.
I'm not knocking him really as he was only being a typical male and he has been a star most of the time.
Heatheranne let me just say along with the others how greatfull I am to you for starting this site, it has become a real friend to me, especially as I am so far away from home and my family.
Jenny I shaved mine off after second chemo, and cried all the time it was being done, but I think that was because I had a stranger doing it in her house and noone else there, so I would do what the others say and make a fun time off it, it was more like a proceedure for me which was horrible so have fun and try not to make it an ordeal, good luck.
wendy re your reconstruction how much weight do you need to put on to get a decent pair?
and also did they say it was ok to tan your tummy as I have been avioding the sun around my tummy so as not to get it all wrinkled and burnt.
well my friends thats about it for now, I will try to keep up with you all as much as I can.
for all those having their chemo this week good luck and especially to those who are having there last chemos woo hoo to you.
    keep smiling girls and guys.

Good evening everyone! Hope you've had a warm, sunny day. My mad daughter bought me a huge paddling pool for Christmas and we've been in it all day with my friend's grandson - it was great fun!
Jean, you sound as if you had a good time despite the chilly end - and your piccy is lovely! Thanks for adding it. And well done for keeping awake - I'm sure the cold must have helped!

Paula, I have had so many offers of tummy fat I could be an X cup! I've always tried to keep slim so it's been a hard time for me eating all those fish and chip suppers, custard slices, jam doughnuts. Still haven't tried the fish finger butties yet but it must be done. Actually I've only put on a few pounds so I'm on target for a C cup. Gotta keep up the hard work, tho!

Sam and Stuart - it's good you are working together on this - but isn't unbelievable how lacking in compassion people can be. It's hard enough coping with what's going on in our bodies without assaulting our minds. We are all behind you.

I'm off to see "Coco before Chanel" tonight with my sister and our men. Hope they enjoy it!

    Love to you all xxxxxx

    hi again,

I was wondering if there is a link between breast cancer and thyriod cancer.???

Although my Dr said the CT was normal he did say I have an adenoma in my left thyriod gland, which I first thought ok thats nothing, then hay ho, I go and scare myself by looking it up on the internet, how supid am I, because now I've got myself all freaked out again.

I couldn't find a link so far not that I've been looking for long.

Oh dear just when I was feeling so good about things, I will see what the oncologist say's on monday.

In the mean time I'm going to get my hubby to take me out to dinner, cos I'm worth it.

    Afternoon Ladies

Great news, Wendy. You must be feeling good being told that it has not spread. I know Sep 22nd seems a long way off but it'll come around, you'll see!

In the meantime, enjoy your break in York and try to fit in another one! Hope the men enjoyed "Coco before Chanel"

Moomy, I'm the wrong age group for your friend but hopefully someone will be able to befriend her and offer support and advice, if she needs it. Have you suggested that she joins us here? That may be an option for her. I know that all of us here have benefited so much, just by being able to chat about things with others who really understand how we feel.

Sue, I was so pleased to see your post and read that your CT scan was clear. Hope you get more good news tomorrow after the bone scan and ultrasound. As far as i can see an adenoma on the thyroid is a benign tumour. Stop scaring yourself by trawling the internet. I know, easier said than done. I expect we would all be the same. It'll take a while before any of us can think clearly again. Every little ache, pain etc will give us doubts. Hopefully your onc. can reassure you tomorrow.

Hey, Caley you're home! Fantastic! Take it easy now. Have you come home with drain/drains in? If so you will feel a lot better when it/they have been removed. Just let yourself be pampered.

I'm good, just a little tired without the steroids. Roll on Wednesday!

As always, thinking of you all

    Love Jean xx
