Hi All
I hope today is an OK day for everyone.
Lesley, and others, please can I ask some advice? We have known about Dad's blood clot in his groin as long as we have known about the cancer and the two seem to go hand-in-hand in a lot of cases. Does anyone know why this is? Dad is having the Clexane injections for the clot, I imagine the same with your Dad Lesley? Originally it was his calf which was swollen but the swelling went down with the Clexane but now his ankle swells up if he's walking about for more than an hour or two (he likes to play nine holes of golf in between the chemo if he can!). They have said this is fine and the Clexane is what they offer so he should just stay on that. Does anyone know why in 'normal life' blood clots are a big issue which may move and kill you but in 'cancer life' nobody seems bothered by them?
Any thoughts would be much appreciated as this puzzles me and no-one seems to know the answer.
Thinking of you all.
Hi Petra,
Sorry to hear about your dad - unfortunatley I dont know why cancer and blood clots go hand in hand and why it is so common - hopefully someone more knowledgable might be able to help? my dad is being given Clexane as well - sounds very similar to your dads actually - the clot is in his groin and his ankles and feet have been huge and swollen for a few months now - we had put this now to the steroids but now im not so sure - the clots have been found in his lungs now but we've been told not to worry?? hard bloody not to eh - im going up to collect him soon so might question a bit more. Love and strength to you and your dad...good on him that he can still get to his golf, thats fab xxx
Emma, how are you going to manage to keep Mr Duracell at home with you, even after all this he is still at work, bet you panicked when this happened, at the least the hospital have eased your mind a little at the moment, keep us all informed thinking of you hope the girls enjoy their riding lesson xxx
Petra, for some reason cancer patients are much more at risk to blood clots, not sure why maybe its the blood flow affected by the tumour not too sure tho. xx
Lesley, hope your dad is good today, and your mum Paul and the kids, lovely day down in ayrshire today. xx
thinking of all my other lovely friends today Martins reflexologist is coming soon, off to get him ready.

Hello All....
Temporarily perhaps..but I came up with something Dad is eating, and enjoying! I am taking canned peach pie filling, running it thru a food processor , and then mixing it with Vanilla ice cream...so it is a creamy Peach shake. Peach Pie is his favorite... Tonight, I am trying apple!
Any other suggestions?

Morning everyone
A lovely spring morning, lovely to see. Well Martin and I are off to the theatre tomorrow night as Martin won 2 tickets on a radio show last night, he so pleased we never win anything, the thing is its a show we both would like to see, lst week I suggested that we go and he said oh I dont think I'd be up to it, but now that he won the tickets, he is so proud he cant wait to go, bless him.
Emma, I hope Mathew is a bit better today, no doubt he will be at work anyway lol, hope everything is going well with the fundraising!!! xx
Debbie, glad your mum and dad had a good holiday, glad you got on well at the beatson and that you learned alot, did you drive up and down the road in one day??? The seizures are really scarey. xx
Lisa, hope your dad is well today, its amazing how that most bt patients will eat sweet things before anything else think its a dex thing, you should try fruit smoothies for your dad the fruit will boost his immune system. xx
Lesley, good to hear your dad is home, you will all be pleased. xx
