Well here i am again at 4.30 in the morning and i can't sleep yet again!! My husband Darryl has terminal small cell cancer and, at the moment is going through a really good phase. Which, i would have thought, would set my mind at rest and enable me to sleep. But no, here i am again having had 2 hrs sleep tonight wide awake with mad thoughts running around my head!! This is driving me crazy and i just seem to be on auto pilot all the time. Darryl is 44 years old and we have been given a prognosis of a 2-3 year life span for him. I can't seem to let go of this thought, and maybe part of me can't sleep because of that, as i feel if i'm asleep i'm wasteing precious time!! Darryl is sound asleep and resting well, and if i stay upstairs next to him listening to his breathing, i keep thinking is this the last time i'll ever hear that and end up getting so uptight and worried that i find it better to just get up again. So i wander round the house do a few chores, have a hot caffiene free drink and will myself to sleep all to no avail i might add!! hahaha surely i'm not the only carer who never sleeps, or am i????? any comments gratefully recieved. Take care my friends and hope your all sleeping well. love and hugs mel xxx

As long as Foghorne Leghorne doesnt start signing off with the firemen with big hoses then we would worry! dont even know where that came from from, probably me and background?

You're not a whinger and you're stronger than me honey (if that makes sense) xxxxxxxx think Karen having an early night, sending you loads a love T XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Don't talk to me about whinging !

My mum in law is 80 and calls at least once a week to see how I am. I invariably have a good old moan because since the wife has gone I haven't got anyone to moan to. Now I know where my wife learned to pretend to listed putting in the occasional, yeh, mm, oh as she pretended to listen \;0) .....Anyway mum in law is just like her and we have a good old moan and a laugh about it. I don't take it too seriously but it does me good.

I'm blessed that I have my sister and the outlaws to help me through.

Strange how you don't miss it until it's gone.....

Good bunch of blokes in the Fire Service. They do look after their own. It's a pity the Government and Councils don't hold them in as high an esteem as the public do.

Dunno about hoses, they are a standard width, but come in various lengths. I know Firemen have big helmets though. They vary in colour as well. The more important you are, the lighter yer 'helmet. Some have got coloured bands around them as well. French Firemen have big shiny ones, you could see your face in them !

On that note, I'll bid you a fond 'goodnight' !
