Hi,
my mum (60) is waiting for results of her tumor and mass to see if it's cancer. It's been just over two weeks since all tests were completed. I am meant to be going to london for a week now and I (daughter aged 24) wanted to cancel going as I'm so worried and I want to be there for my mum who only has my dad and her parents around who are also Ill. she told me not to cancel and that it would make her happiest to go. My issue is I think she won't tell me if she's diagnosed and I think she's so worried that she needs people around her. What do you think is the best thing for me to do. When I message her asking if she's okay and double checking dad says it worries her that I'm worrying about her. So I'm not going to but also I want to be there for her. If anyone has any advice on how to handle this.
Hi Ilovemymum98
I wonder if you looked at talking about cancer it might help lessen your concern about not being told. It would likely become very obvious when treatment started anyway.
I know my dad often tried to keep details of my mum's illness from us as he was worried we would worry - but then that really did not help. Of course it appears then he might not even have been honest about his own health either.
It is tricky but perhaps this might help introduce more openness in your family dynamic.

Thank you Steve for your reply! I will check that out. I have ended up going to london as my dad said that it would make her feel awful if I cancelled. However I am sat worrying constantly.
