In need of positive details and outcomes from anyone who has had or has bladder cancer. My hubby has just told of his biopsy results on Monday by telephone! He has been told he has bladder cancer. My hubby deals with this in a positive way, I on the other, am a devastated panicker! He had prostate cancer 7 years ago and has responded so well to all the treatments he had and I, although it was so hard, feel i can't do this again! There was no Covid restrictions back then so this time it frightens me.
My husband was also told over the phone about his bladder cancer, about 4 months ago. What a journey we are on, he is almost at the end of his Chemotherapy, 1 more session to go. It hasn’t been as bad as he feared initially, but it also hasn’t been a walk in the park. He tries to deal with it one step at the time, rather than looking at longer term, where he may need surgery anyway. Chemotherapy is giving him a fighting chance. Despite COVID, none of his appointments have been cancelled which was a concern. I sometimes feel I am struggling more than he is as I can’t fix it, nor control it, so hard.
Thankyou for your reply, much appreciate it. I feel exactly the same as you do-struggling. Gosh I thought it was just my husband who received this by phone, I do think it is a very impersonal harsh way to inform someone-his last episode of cancer 7 years ago it was totally different, he had a face to face appointment. I do remember how it was last time and this is something I dread facing even though 7 years down the line I have forgotten how bad it was but how positive we came through it. Glad to hear your husband is nearing the end of chemo and hope all still goes well for you both. My husband is a very strong person compared to me and the difference in our outlook to this is huge, he like your husband will deal with it one step at a time. Glad to hear your appointments were not cancelled, we are at the very beginning of our journey and hope his MRI scan appointment comes soon as its the unknown that is the worst and what will happen next.
