My mum was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and is refusing further treatment to enjoy a better ‘quality of life’ while she has it - I just got use to this idea and accepted she was enjoying her last moments and then all of a sudden - my dad got diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer last week and is deteriorating quickly.
I‘m so lost sad and confused. So confused. How can this happen to both my parents in such a short space of time?
I’m 32, single and live alone. I’m so sad they’ll never meet my future children or my future partner - all of these big life events, they’ll never know and that’s killing me. I feel so alone in this and struggling to talk to friends about it as it feels so massive. Hoping people here can understand a bit more.

I have lived with and been treated for 4 cancers over the past 26 years…… but I can only imagine how stressful and challenging a time this is for you…… but talking with and getting support from people who have or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) and when it comes to the practical and emotional challenges of supporting your mum, dad and indeed yourself you may benefit from joining and posting in our general cancer……

……. support groups where you will connect with a wide range of members navigating the exact same support challenges.
It is an emotional time supporting family so you might find this Macmillan information your feelings when someone has cancer helpful as well as this link getting help with your emotions.
As always the Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits and financial guidance or just a listening ear.
Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
