My dad has been diagnosed with bladder cancer & theres nothing can be done as hes to old & frail so everyday is a rollercoaster & a waiting game

Scared , lonely , emotional & useless are just a few of how I feel not to mention the anger because of everything thats happened or went wrong

I keep my circle of friends small due to past issues and the other friends have really big issues / problems of there own theyre dealing with

The travelling is so costly and its draining going back and forward to a hospital so 5 hours of the day for travelling is taking its toll

  • Hi

I am really sorry to hear you are struggling after your dad’s diagnosis. My name is Chelle and I am a community champ. I am also living with an incurable sarcoma. I cared for my own mother through her ovarian cancer diagnosis and I know how scary, emotional, exhausting this is. Having to travel so far to the hospital each time is also not easy. As well as that being a long journey, that is a lot of alone time in the car for you.

At the hospital where your dad is, I wonder if there is a maggies centre https://www.maggies.org/  or a MacMillan.centre. These are usually close to the hospital. These are great places to pop into to have a coffee and a chat with someone just to offload some of the stress you are experiencing. You can also call the MacMillan support line on 0808 808 00 00 who are available 7 days a week from 8am until 8pm

You can also join the Supporting someone with incurable cancer forum  where you can connect with other members who are in a similar situation to yourself.
