My family tell me they are always there for us if we need help.
I asked for help when my husband fell. They were busy.
we spent 48 hours without sleep in the hospital. Nothing sinister was found.
Family were very upset and repeated “”Keep us informed” “Let us know if you need help.”
The incident was repeated. I am 73 My husband 90 He weighs 14 stone. I can’t lift him on my own.
Again the family offered sympathy and insisted that I let them know if we need help I asked what sort of help could they give. They said help with shopping
I explained that I had all of my shopping delivered.
Said it would helpful if they could phone and have a chat with their dad say once a week.
They said “yes of course”
Its been a month since we heard from them.
Hi Yvonne_T
Families - they can be hard. My brother-in-law was being really quite helpful but then my sister-in-law decided to help too and things ended up with her nagging me and I ended up in tears.
It can be quite difficult sometimes though to come up with helpful things.
Feelings of lonliness can be really quite common when dealing with cancer, we have quite a good article on that here.
