Stopping treatment.

I gave up and stopped treatment and I feel so selfish. Many people would bite the hand off to have some of the options offered to me but I, personally do not feel I could take them when they could benefit someone who will appreciate them more.

Has anyone else stopped treatment and been caught in a spin of wow I'm happy I want to stay here and I can't stay cause so many people will shriek told you so and that could harm other innocent people?

Sorry my heads a bit messy today.

  • Hi Danirawr

Choosing whether or not to have any of the treatment offered is a very personal decision and it is not an easy decision to make. Rather than thinking of it as stopping treatment and giving up, perhaps consider it as you discussed treatment options with your team and made an informed decision about how to deal with your cancer yourself. You made a choice that you feel is right for you.

You come across as someone who is caring about what others think but it is your cancer, your body and your decision. Some people would make the same decision, others may not but you are the most important person in this.

All treatments in my experience have positives and negatives. Some have some pretty serious side effects. I remember for me being told that having chemotherapy was about trying to reduce the chances of recurrence but that there were no guarantees. I made the best choice I could with the information available. And that is what you have tried to do.
