Why does no one prepare you for the mental exhaustion you feel once treatment has finished.
I finished chemo in September and had a lobectomy for secondary cancer 6 weeks ago. My heads all over the place thank god for Maggies
anyone feel the same
Hi Annie1974 welcome to the forum. Maggie,s centres are a blessing for lots of folks and glad that you have one nearby you to access. I live in the area that the founder of the Maggies Centres hailed from but we don't have a Maggies Centre but an excellent MacMillan Center which like the one you have available has also been a blessing for me. When I was at the point you are at in my treatment journey I popped in to speak to the lady who runs the centre, had a cry and a lovely cup of tea and left with a paper by Dr Peter Harvey entitled "When the Treatment finishes " What next". I read it and wow it explained exactly how I was feeling and more importantly why.
So what all of the above got to do with you I hear you ask ? Well if you feel able to access this paper on the internet, have a read, I seem to have lost my link to this which I could have inserted for you and see if how you are feeling and thinking just now is in that paper. Ill be surprised if its not . Let me know what you think.?
Best wishes xxx
Hi,, I thought I finished my treatment back in November 2022, but but consultant kindly reminded me that that wasn’t the case,, I didn’t finish my treatment until March 2023 after finishing my herceptin injections…. I now feel totally lost, emotionally drained and cross with how much my body has changed since going through the treatment,, I keep reminding myself that I’m still here, I’m cancer clear,,, I find it really emotional talking about how my bodies been affected..
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
