I’ve just been diagnosed with cancer. I’m so scared and trying not to let the anxiety overwhelmed me. Does anyone have any ideas to reduce anxiety

  • Hi , cancer journeys can oh so different across different cancers. It would help you to connect in with people walking the same treatment journey.

Have a look through this list and choose the appropriate group for you cancer type and connect in with others who are on the same journey.

  • I’m waiting for staining to be completed so I know if it’s bowel or endometrial.
it’s just totally all consuming at the moment.
im trying to stay positive. I don’t want this to define me.

  • It will make more sense once you know exactly what you are dealing with and the Bowel (colon and rectum) cancer or Womb (uterus) cancer groups will be good places to connect with others who can help you from lived experiences.

Cancer treatments have come so far over the years. I was diagnosed with my incurable blood cancer way back in 1999. I have had many treatments over the years and I reflect back to 1999 when I was told I would next be in any long term remission but these developments have now got me into remission for the past 5 years - so there is lots of hope out there.

Controlling the battle between the ears is very important. We have the choice in how this journey defines us. Do we take control or do we allow the circumstances to control us. I know the choice I have made.

I Think it may help you talking with someone so do call the Macmillan Support Services on 0808 808 00 00 - most services are open 8am to 8pm, 7 days a week Clicking here to see what is available. This service provides lots of cancer information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

  • Thanks Mike.
I’m sure you are right that one of the hardest things to do is control out thoughts.
I like you certainly want this to be something I control and not the other way round. I won’t let this define me.
I will give the support services a call
