Hi all - bit of a superficial one sorry, just wondering if anyone did microblading for eyebrows once their treatment had already started? I start chemo tmrw and my nurse said it was fine as long as it doesn’t fall in the timeframe of low immunity in case of bleeding/infection etc, but looking online a lot of salons won’t do it if you’re in the midst of treatment. Does anyone have any experience of this or even any recommendations of London salons that will do it? Thanks!
hi
I don't have personal experience but a friend who had it done months after chemo said that it itched like crazy.
I know I couldn't use several shampoos after chemo and I can see how our tolerances might change.
If you do decide I'm sure they'll do a patch test of some description.
I survived with my Bobbi Brown eyebrow kit
https://www.bobbibrown.co.uk/product/2327/20491/makeup/eyes/brows/light-brow-kit
it's expensive but it's easy to use and comes in three shades.
Eyelashes, I tried fake ones but they were useless, so I resorted to a bit of dark shadow, again patch test it, just to line the eye slightly.
On the whole I'm going to say it's well worth taking a lot of extra care with anything that might cause infection, sepsis is a real threat.
Even things like getting a softer toothbrush and flossing very very gently to avoid infections creeping in via that route.
Can you get to a counter to try the eyebrow kit ? it's a less risky strategy

Hi Carolyn28,
Thanks so much for your reply. Thinking about it a little more I’m not sure about microblading purely for the risk of irritation as you say and recovery of the skin. Maybe I’ll look into it after chemo is done as a little treat.
Thanks so much for the Bobbi brown eyebrow kit link, think that might be the way to go.. I did buy a couple of eyelash sets but have read that with your actual eyelashes gone the protection from the glue isn’t there and also they won’t hold very well so maybe I’ll just save those for when chemo is finished too! Good tip re a little shadow.
Theres so much to think about isn’t there and as much as you try and plan for it, I have no idea how my skin and body will react to any of this so I just have to take each obstacle as it comes!
Purchased ny soft toothbrush and Manuka honey today too in prep for sore gums and ulcers. Let’s see how that pans out. Xx
Hi,
I was told no due to possible infection from needles etc.
I’m not even allowed to get my smear test done I’ve had two reminders now but told again due to risk of infection I will have to wait till after chemo so from when my smear was due before Christmas it will be April/ May before it will be considered.
Lots of great products available though. I still have mine, but expecting them to disappear after having the first docetaxel tomorrow.
Hi.I recently had my first chemo but had very little oportunity to get my microblading done. However my Oncologist said it would be ok to have in the week leading upto my next session. He has written me a letter for me to give to my beautician.I have had the 2 required patch tests.1st one was just before chemo and was ok but second gave me a bruise but this is likely to be from the needle used and it was 7 days after my initial chemo so am bruising a little easier.Other than that I have had no reaction. My beautician has done a lot of research on the topic of microblading during chemo and there are lots of opinions.I would say take the advice of your Oncologist on this one but if you get it done make sure the person is recommended and you have seen their work.
Hello,
I found very good clinic and I have not had any more problems. I have been there already around 4-5 times and everything looks absolutely fantastic.
Their site is Permanent Beauty Clinic and the lady I was dealing with was Martha
