its been a while since I posted on this forum but our world was shattered yesterday.
I have been his carer for over 15 years since he was diagnosed with degenerative discs in his back. Three years ago he had throat cancer which he fought and won. Life was back to pre-cancer normal which for us was pretty good even with his disability.
10 weeks ago in the middle of the night he broke his arm (after weeks of complaining it hurt and being told it was muscle strain by the GP and physio). Turns out he had fractured it 4 months ago and it then ‘snapped’ during the night.
Fast forward and a very angry throat oncologist who said he should have been sent for X-rays months ago sent hi. For CT scans, MRI and a PET scan it turns out he has both bone cancer and lung cancer. He is going for biopsies next week so they can determine what treatment regime will be suitable but has said it is not curable.
My world feels like it is ending - we have been together over 40 years and the thought of him suffering not one but two cancers is devastating.
Hello, I have just read your post. I don't have answers which can wave a magic wand unfortunately. However, now your husband/ soul mate has diagnosis (even though it is a shock), he will get the best care possible which hopefully will be able to make his pain manageable and maybe slow this illness down. Never give up, always be honest with each other and you will have the strength to face this together. Gentle hugs to you both x
