Hello apologies for the post as a newbie. My dad was diagnosed with bowl cancer which we recently found out has spread to his liver and lymph nodes.
Im just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation he is currently Leicester royal infirmary.
I work full time and have two small children I am his sole career and I feel hopeless lost and burnt out. I feel guilty that should be helping him more and be there for him more but I just feel helpless. I guess I want help in knowing what support I can try and get for him as I alone am not enough. I’m sure there are many people in a similar situation i just feel so helpless.
Hi AshleyF
No need to apologise on here, after all we all started with our first post.
Before your dad gets out of hospital they will need to make sure he has appropriate support at home, it is important to remember you also have to care for his grandkids and so there has to be balance. At home he would need a needs assessment from his local authority and as carer it would help for you to get a carers assessment to.
<<hugs>>
Steve
