Hi All

After 9 rounds of EP (cisplatin and etoposide and seemed to do the trick, she also got six round of radiotherapy - Going from given 6 weeks to live to getting 15 months is amazing.  On the 9th round scan showed it had stopped working and it had progressed.  They offered CAV.

Mum done two rounds of CAV and the pain that came with it was horrendous.  It was every part of her body and no painkillers helped.  Today Mum has decided to stop all treatment.  The cancer nurses are coming this week to speak to her regarding end of life plan.  She has been a fighter right through this but today she is very deflated , feeling like a failure.  Had to explain to her that she has not given up her life, the cancer has done that, she is just choosing to live the remaining part of her life pain free and with dignity.

  • Hi

It can be a difficult choice to make and we often hear lots of talk of things like "lost the battle" and that is not always helpful. Given what you have said is seems you are happy this is the right decision in the circumstances and that is all we can ever really ask.

  • Hi Steve, Thank you, Definitely, she has been the hardest working cancer fighter, everyone is, If there was a fighting chance of surviving, then lets continue but there isn't, only death and I want it to be her decision with our full support.
