My husband is in remission from non Hodgkin’s lymphoma.mlast chemo was May 4th this year. All day. Today he keeps getting sharp shooting pains below his  ear in his neck. It really makes him yell out in pain.  He can’t move out of his chair without my help. He can’t even bend down to pull his shorts up. He has had paracetamol and ibuprofen tablets today tonight he has had paracetamol and codeine. This morning he had 4mg diazepam. None of the meds had taken away the pain. They tell him that if he has any lumps and bumps and pain to get back In touch with the cancer unit. Any  Thoughts would be very welcome please.

  • Hello, your husband shouldn’t be suffering like that, I would think the fasted route would be to contact the cancer unit asap, other routes could be slow. My Linda had problems with her lymphatic system, several being removed during cancer surgery, I’m only guessing, but if the lymph glands aren’t daring properly, could that be putting pressure on a nerve ? You certainly need medical advice. I hope you get some soon, and your husband gets some relief

maybe a good idea would be to phone MacMillan to talk to a medical specialist 08088080000

one other thought, my wife had special exercises to encourage the lymph glands to drain, that was my responsibility, she also had a special arm sleeve, which compressed and helped, but in the neck area I’m not sure that’s applicable, but there may be drainage massage that’s possible, something to ask about

here is some info but if considered the right course of action, you will need to be shown how to perform SLD
