Waiting on Mum's results is hard at the moment 15th Feb 22,  the not knowing and this week there has been a shift.  She seems to be confused just at times not all of the time and her words are in her head but not coming out, say a lot of things that are mixed up or different words for what she is meaning, some days it takes a lot to figure out what she is meaning.  She is also wanting a lot of things done around the house (a fitted kitchen) in prep for the inevitable, and my Dad is also not physically fit to do these now, he has Lung cancer also, so it's falling to us to do it.  I am not complaining but I have a full time job and today I feel exhausted/drained both mentally and physically.  Need to perk myself up to get on with it.

  • Is your mum currently or recently having chemo or immuno treatment? It can really affect memory, my partner has struggled for a word in a sentence or what he's supposed to be doing and he's never experienced confusion before treatment. Stick with her. It's a tough time, she's lucky to have you. I hope the results are positive on the 15th x

  • Hi Faerie V. Thank you, She completed her Chemo & Radiotherapy at the end of Nov. I was tired yesterday and just found it a bit of a challenge but trying not to lose patience as she is very demanding but I understand she is trying to get everything done. I am back on track today.

    Thank you for your help

  • Thanks Toppy, glad you are feeling a bit better. We definitely need this space I think :)

Hi Toppy.  The waiting is the absolute worst isn't it.  And waiting for results is the worst of the worst.  You certainly have a lot on your plate right now too.  Perking yourself up and getting on with it is fine, but you need to look after you too.  Try to find a little time for yourself, even if it is just a nice long soak in the bath, reading a chapter of a book, a glass of wine, (I do all those three things at the same time lol).  Whatever relaxes you and whenever you can.  Glad you are feeling better and you can let it all out here anytime you want

  • Thank you for your kind words. We definitely do need here, that's for sure. It's the first time I have felt like that is 8 months but its getting harder to maintain the positive thoughts and keeping her positive and complete all she needs to do before the inevitable.  To me they are pointless but she needs it, so I go along.  Thank you so much for taking the time :-)

  • Hi Gazcata, Thank you, this one just feel worst I think as we are nearing the "time" she need this to work to give her "time"  I slept for about 4 hrs on Sunday, just catching up. I managed to finish fitting her kitchen, so she is happy it all done x  Thank you for your support.
