Hello, I’m new to all this,
my husband has stomach cancer , suppose to be In early stage, 1, he’s 83, and told there is no treatment for him, I can’t understand why, I never get a strait answer , he passed out, brought all this sick blood up, doctors put camera down his throat, and sealed the edges of cancer to stop the bleed , another check up in 3 month, I heard the doctor say , he didn’t expect that so soon, My husband won’t ask questions, and with covid , we can’t go to appointment with him , I’m feeling very stressed out , and losing a lot of my hair, so more stressful,
Hi GilM - i'm so sorry for the news about your husband and that you are not getting straight answers. My husband is undergoing treatment at the moment and we have changed a lot of face to face "in clinic" meetings to conference call. However as i am listed his carer, I am allowed to be with him. On phone calls it is always both of us, and i ask most of the questions that i have pre-prepared in my special "lets beat this" notebook. I have to push quite hard to get straight answers but my husband and i have made it very clear we expect the truth and no waffle and it seems to be working. Perhaps this approach might help you get the answers you need. Its even agreed with the doctors that if my husband doesnt want to know something and i do, they will tell me alone.
Good luck, and dont forget the support line with Macmillan - they are great.
