Breast Cancer

Hi, mum was diagnosed with stage 4 aggressive Breast Cancer 6 months ago.  Myself and my brother are her carers, i live at least 1 hour away my brother lives 30 mins away (depending on traffic).

Mum’s next hospital appointment is in 3 months when the option of having her breast removed possibly will not be an option.  Mum has several other medical conditions which means they are not certain if the operation can take place.  Mum is very confused, scared and has questions that we feel we are not able to answer.  We need help guidance and support for her and are hoping to get this from this website

  • Hi and welcome to our community, though as ever sorry to hear about your mum - all too often people do not present with just a single issue so your mums position is far from uncommon.

There is a wonderful group on here in our Breast cancer forum and they will be plenty of people there who might well be able to advise on what worked for them.

It can of course be a real challenge dealing with out own emotions and then trying to untangle our own emotions from the needs of our loved ones can be a real challenge.

    <<hugs>>

Oh best wishes to you.  I know you are a long drive away but zoom/phone is still a great way to stay in touch. Are you able to attend appointments with her?  I don’t mean necessarily in person but my husband’s doctors allow me to attend by phone or zoom.  That has made a big difference for me understanding and helping him understand his options.  It seems strange that the next information is 3 months away but perhaps you could call the Macmillan nurses and get specific advice.  They are brilliant.
