Hello. My parents are 90 and 88. My Dad (90) has been my mothers full time carer as she has myeloma and dementia. My father has been take into hospital and won’t be able to care for her anymore when he comes home. My Mum is going downhill very quickly and losing so much weigh. She’s looking skeletal and I am very worried for her. Her oncologist has decided to take her over her cancer medication because of this. Mum needs full time care and could not be in the house alone. Do macmillian offer any care home help? Any advise what I should do is greatly appreciated. Thank you
Hi
Sorry to hear about your parents, if you ring the helpline I am sure they will be able to help point you in the direction of any support that may be available to your parents where they live. I would expect the first port of call to be a needs assessment and a carers assessment from the local authority.
The helpline is open 8am to 8pm on 0808 808 0000.
<<hugs>>
Steve
